I hope Diouf was taking notes on Hyypia's reaction.

Even when he got shafted, he stilled showed professionalism and restraint. The hallmarks of a great captain.

Sami is a model of an unflappable footballer. And if Diouf could learn a lesson, remember that Sami might have learned one from Jamie C after the same thing happenned at Highbury.

How can you expect supporters to show class when their manager won't? It starts at the top, friends.

MADRID, May 7 (Reuters) - Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said on Monday he had been wrong to suggest that the draw for the Champions League quarter-finals had been fixed.

Ferguson, whose side face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, said in an interview with Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper that the draw was loaded to keep teams from the same country apart.

As well as United against Real Madrid, the draw paired AC Milan with Ajax, Inter Milan against Valencia and Juventus versus Barcelona.

"It was a nice draw for the Spanish and Italians -- I think they picked it themselves," Ferguson told the newspaper.

"I can tell you -- UEFA don't want us in the final, that's for sure. I don't know why they have given the final to Old Trafford because they don't want us to get there."

Ferguson, speaking on the eve of the first leg against Real, said he now accepted the draw had not been fixed.

"I'm assured by UEFA that the draw was fair," the United boss told reporters. "I was wrong to say what I said."

Gosh, I wonder whether the old soak's sudden and uncharacteristic "retraction" had anything to do with this:

UEFA CHARGE FERGIE OVER FIX CLAIM

Sir Alex Ferguson has been charged with bringing the game into disrepute by UEFA following his claim that the Champions League draw had been fixed.

...

"A breach of these principles is incurred by anyone whose conduct brings the sport of football, and UEFA in particular, into disrepute (article 5 of the disciplinary regulations).

"The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on 1 May."

I hope Diouf was taking notes on Hyypia's reaction.

I didn't even realize what had happened when I was watching the match.

Looking back on the incident now, it appears to me that he picked up the coin, brought it to his lips, and then carried it off into the tunnel to give it to an officer.

Sami showed supreme composure. A fine example of why he's our captain.

You are the same lame idiot who thought the Dudek goal reenacters were funny and courageous over on the ManUre board! Form is temporary, NO CLASS is permanent.

I do love your "Scouser joke" affectation. You wouldn't know a Manc from a Scouser from a Geordie yet you spend most of your time on these boards carrying on as though you born within a coin's throw of Moss Lane. Give it up, eh?

Or go over to your private board and wank off to the soft core pinups!

Courageous? It took balls to try and pull that off. But I'm not in any sort of admiration of them for it.

Was it funny? Yes. Kind of like an off-colour joke, you can't help but have a chuckle even when you know you shouldn't really. I still get a giggle over it...

And as for the "NO CLASS" dig, didn't United ban them from Old Trafford for life? Thought so.

Exactly. A guy from Frederick, Maryland should not be making jokes about Liverpool.
