I got a piece of pleasant news last night from a reliable source that Blackburn will be playing DC on Wednesday July 23. I hope so, but this has not yet been officially announced, so just put a hold on that day in your day planner.

Wow that would be great.

This summer DC United will get to see the two USA national team goalkeepers with their clubs.

And of course it doesn't hurt that the another national team goalkeeper plays for DC United. :D

That would be awesome news if it was true... keeping my fingers crossed....

I think these games with Euro teams are great, but they are kinda pointless. We get to see so very talented teams, but they are in the middle of their offseason and we are in the middle of ours, so both teams are just trying to stay healthy which leads to a poorer level of soocer. Oh well, I'll still probably go...

That's the benefit of playing in a summer league when everyone else is on vacation.

Though the Euro teams tend to bring out the best in MLS/DC United players trying to impress.

GrillMaster:

Thanks for posting this news but be careful...I almost got thrown off this list by Mod and my post got stoppped for raising the Rover issue; i.e., specifically their magnificent keeper, Sir Brad Friedel.... in any event, I am selling my car now to see the Rovers and their golden keeper beat the d.c. boys! I am very interested to see (either at home or away) the skills of these National Team keepers on display!

Keeping my fingers crossed...keep us posted GrillMaster!

Didn't you get in trouble because you started multiple threads about bringing Brad to DC to play for the United?

Never. That rotten little Crewligan will never grace the net for DC United. ;)

And, yes, IMHO calling DC United "The DC United" or "The United" should merit an automatic red card. I don't think Huss'll go for that though.

... I just hope FSW picks up the broadcast for this game ...

At this point you have lost any credibility as a DC United attendee. I sincerely hope that you never show up to games and that you start supporting some team like the sCrew or Metroscum (of course, only if they improve)!

Please understand that this is said in my role as a Poster on this board. Go Away! We don't want you kind of two-faced non-support around here! :)

Well DC has games scheduled for both the 19th and 27th of July. Somehow I doubt they'd fly to England for a midweek game in between two league games.

In this case, that means the game is at home, and apparently InTheNet's car is only worth a couple tickets and Metro fare to/from the game. :)

That would be a nice treat. I wonder who the Rovers would play if the game happens. I think that Friedel is a lock, but the other players, who knows?

The Rovers are supposedly selling some players (Duff, and I guy's who name I can't remember), so who knows who will be on the team. Hell, there is even a rumor that Friedel will go to Arsenal this offseason.

So now I know when I'm taking vacation.

Now, do I wear my Rover's jersey with a United scarf and cap???

What to do, what to do....

Reconfirmed the Rovers game with another team source today. It will be in July (probably the 23rd) at RFK. Curious that there has been no official announcement.

I vote for your Preston jersey, if you've got one. It's all Lancashire, innit?
