I saw this article:

It is about the return of the WUSA scheduled for 2008. This could be good news for Atlanta MLS. If the Atlanta Beat are resurrected with the league then there could be two teams in Atlanta to take advantage of a Soccer Specific Stadium, which would be that much more of a draw for the MLS to build one. I'm just speculating of course, but it's a possiblility...

On a side note, Mia Hamm for the new Beat Coach!

I wouldn't mind seeing one in Chicago.

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but I really could care less. If it helped Atlanta get a SSS then I'm all for it, but I would probably never go to a WUSA2 game...just being honest. Women's sports other than volleyball have never been entertaining to me.
But if women's soccer returned, I bet an Atlanta team would be affiliated with the Silverbacks since they already have a team in place.

We already have an SSS in Atlanta. Why do we need to build another one?

Because the one we have only fits 3000 people.

As of right now, a field of fake grass with bleachers and a hazardous parking lot should hardly be considered a SSS. They'll get there eventually, but unless the Backs are going MLS, yes, we need another stadium.

Please...God...No!!!!
Women's soccer is the reason that soccer has been crippled in this country, and they would only do the same with an Atlanta team.
now if you wanted to do something special for the women, have a champions league final type deal with the w-league. And if Brandi Crapstain wants to endorse it...fine. Get her away from MLS, and i'll be happy camper.

Partnering with a future MLS team may not be a bad idea. As I mentioned on another thread in this forum they ought to work out a deal that will make Georgia Tech happy and play a season or two there while either Herndon or Silverbacks Park get renovated to MLS standards. Both stadiums are in ideal locations IMO and should do well provided an ownership group comes together.
