Just wanted to let Phil and Tony both know how grateful I am for this podcast. I am a Virginina EPL fan so im not surrounded by all of football news day in and day out. You two make the show hilarious and great to listen to when I get home from school. Thank you for your time making the podcast gentlemen.

Goalissimo, I support Liverpool.. shame we're not having a great season so far, and Gerrard has yet to get into form.

Phil and Tony, congrats on getting the forum here.
Any chance of doing anything for MLS playoffs?
This is Evan of the Soccer Thoughts blog, btw.

Cheers guys, Thanks for doing the podcast. This was the one sorely needed improvement to the pod. I was just considering sending an e-mail to suggest it.
On a random side note, I just finished my first season on the uber-realistic FIFA 07. Borough finished fourth in the table and almost beat me in the FA Cup Final. They almost got third, but were edged out by Charlton on the last day of the season.

Speaking of realism, Arsenal got relegated in my first season on FIFA 07.

I can buy Boro finishing fourth.
Arsenal relegated? It could happen.
Charlton fishing in the top three? I don't think so.

Arsenal didn't get relegated in mine. Although that is probably because I was playing against them, and led the table by 35 points.
I think Man U finished 14th, possibly to do with them immediately selling Rio Ferdinand to Chelsea.
My other favorite transfer move was Sevilla buying Loser Donovan. I think seeing him be successful in Spain would be less likely than Charlton playing in Europe.

that should be playing "as" them

I'm on my fourth season as Arsenal and have won the Premiership and all the cups every season. Liverpool got relegated last season :p Aston Villa, Bolton, and Portsmouth are usually around the top of the league. Chelsea and Man U keep dropping lower and lower each season :D The only big transfer I can think of off the top of my head is Dida going to Tottenham.
Getting back on topic...
I also want to thank Phil and Tony for making the Soccer Shout podcast. I listen to it every weekday during breakfast and I can't start my day without it. Cheers!

Just want to add my thanks to you guys for listening !!!
Any of you guys out there playing championship manager or Winning 11 ?
I managed to take Hearts to the champions league final in champ manager - proof that with a decent manager we'd be almost unstoppable !!
Cheers

I still play CM 3. I play as Parma, though I have the other leagues running in the background. Arsenal were relegated in the 99-00 season...lovely.

Are Championship Manager or Winning 11 even available in the US? I think all we have is FIFA....wooo
In FIFA 07 I managed to get Lennon for 6 million, Lee Cattermole for 4 million, and a bunch of other youngsters from the Boro... I raided their entire Youth squad :) .

Winning Eleven is definetly available in the US. Might not be as easily available as FIFA is, but you can find it. Though what I've read about FIFA 07 says that EA has finally gotten close to PES/WE in terms of the feel of the game and control, and Konami hasn't really made any advances since PES 4/Winning Eleven 8.
You can get Champ Man, but Eidos and SI split, so you probably want to stick with the SI version, which is now called Football Manager (Eidos' game is still called Champ Man, but the fans of the old games are almost universal in preferring SI's game). Except it's not called Football Manager in North America--here it's called Worldwide Soccer Manager. Confused yet?

Hmmm interesting - I have champ man and football man both for the ickle PSP and I've got to say they both are excellent - the interface on football manager is a little neater (read - leass annoying) than champ manager. Both translate well to the small screen.
I'm a big Pro Evo / WE fan but I think I'm getting close to converting back to fifa - they lost me when they released the PoS that was Fifa 99 ;)

Instead of posting a whole new thread, I'll just jump in this one to say great work to you Tony & Phil on the podcast. I've been listening to it for about 2 weeks now and I love it. Since I can't get any kind of signal at my work for a radio, all I have is my iPOD and your podcast is perfect in keeping me up to date. Also I just recieved the Premiership Guide, and man it's great. Keep up the good work both with the Podcast and the guide.
