One more time in a DC Untied kit, on May 14th versus Spurs at RFK Stadium.

It seems fitting that his final match will be in the correct uniform.

I just want to tip my hat to the management at DC United. This is a very, very classy move by the club and I applaud them for giving the fans one last chance to say thank you to Harksie and for giving Harksie one more chance to both feel our appreciation and show his in return. And doing it against a Premier League team just adds to the appropriateness and class of the event.

Things like this make me proud to wear DC United shirts when I'm trying to sweat off my gut at Gold's.

Again, well done.

Awesome. I was going to go anyway. (Still no word on wich Special Event it would be). This just puts the icing on the cake. When are Ben Iroha and Kris Keldermann's farewell matches?

Right after Thor Lee's. I hear they're bringing in the Lichtestein U-17s.

What I'm figuring is they'll bring back the shootout, because if cousre it will turn out as a tie, and Keldermann, Peay, and Lee will screw the "Memorial". This will be after Harkes and Diaz Arec score!!!

I believe they've already said that this is Special Event A.

They said on ABC yesterday that Harkes will be working (host?) the new FSW weekly MLS wrap-up - I hope he doesn't turn out to be another Roy Wegerle.

Classy move by DC United.

ps-I used to watch the DC United show a few years back and remember John Harkes was very charismatic as the co-host.

Congrats to Harksie on the FSW gig. Classy move by United, as Spurs are a fitting opponent for a farewell match, so it's very nice of United to re-characterize this match as his tribute match. Once again, Zack and the DC United front office make the right call. I just cannot fathom how anyone associated with MLS could possibly disagree that the DC United front office is by far the best in MLS.

Congratulations to the DCU front office, this is truely a classy move and deservedly so. Harkes has made us proud to be americans on many occassions.

I think he will do fine in the commentators booth. He did make a dinstiction however that its Fox Sports International, ? can someone explain what the differences are from FSW, will this MLS matches be seen in other countries as well ,and what countries if you guys know?

From DC United.com : "Season ticket holders will be admitted to the game by presenting special event "A" from their season ticket plans at the gate on game day."

This is indeed very classy.

I thought JH got a little choked up when he made the announcement during the Cowlumbus v. LA game.

I noticed that too. He had a bad moment or two.

Kudos to the front office. I think I'll make the trip down for this one.

Fox Sports International is the parent company of FSW and Fox Sports en Espanol. According to the press release on MLSNet.com that announced the deal to broadcast the matches, "the agreement will also extend the broadcasts to Fox affiliated networks in Latin America and the Middle East."

Such a classic MLS move. They focus the article about Harkes' retirement on his DCU and MNT career, and then use a picture of him in a Crew uniform.

Then again, they could've used either of these:

Awesome... I think its great that he will be hosting the weekly show.. I look forward to seeing him.. althought I think the show should be sunday afternoon or saturday nights..
Its just hard on sundays because they tend to do a all day soccer fest.. maybe have the show after informercials end about lunch time.
