There's a lot of talk that ID will get the sack. "They" say he is in over his head being a manager in the Prem.

Thoughts?

And who would Charlton Athletic get to replace him?

From what can be read from the match reports, it seems the team cannot finish and we need to get healthy in the back. Are those things the manager can/should be able to control?

He should get at minimum to mid-season, but it really comes down to whether or not the players are responding to him, I would think.

I agree with everything you have said. And I believe Varney will give ID more time to sort things out.

Dowie may need to continue to tinker with formation, lineup as players get fit.

The 4-5-1 seemed to work well for the most part. If some players would take some first time shots [Rommedahl] or more from outside the box, we might get something in the back of the net. We only missed finishing.

ID may have found something in Reid as attacking mid. But can Andy do that in a 4-4-2? He plays some defense on the outside, so I would think he can do so in the middle of the field. It would be great to see Ambrose also get fit and provide some rotation in the wing positions. Dennis has been a menace, but he is not really a finisher. And Ambrose with Reid can possess, run at the defense, and make final passes.

If ID can get all of them working together, then we might see the Addicks climb up from the bottom a little. But we must get victories. Draws will not help much. I know there is a long part of the season ahead, but we need the threes.
