When Scholes lines up against Liverpool on SUnday it's gonna be his 500th match for Manchester United! He's joining names like Charlton, Irwin, Foulkes, and also two current players Giggs and G. Neville. This is an absolutely huge accomplishment. One has to think that since he retired from England, he's going to be around for us for a couple more years. ALL HAIL THE GINGER ASSASSIN!

Low-profile to a fault, the lifelong Oldham Athletic fan baffled a room of foreign reporters at the 2002 World Cup in Japan when quizzed on his favourite footballer.

Ignoring the claims of Pele and Diego Maradona, Scholes went for former Oldham Athletic striker Frankie Bunn.

And when met with puzzled glances, Scholes added: "He scored six times for Oldham in a League Cup tie against Scarborough you know."

Such was the dead-pan expression, no-one could tell whether his tongue was drilling a hole in his cheek.

LEGEND... :D

P.S Thank you Kiddo for spotting him :)

I heart Scholes.

Me too.

I could but a downer on things and start moaning about how I never understood why a fuss was made of "landmark" numbers like 500 appearances. Surely 507, for example is more of an achievement? but no-one will talk about that.....anyway enough of that shit, well done Scholesy :)

A little bump

The Express had a bit in the BBC Gossip News for today, saying that Thierry Henry has voted Paul Scholes for the PFA Player of the Year. I've heard him say before that Scholes is in his opinion the best in the EPL, and now he's put his money where his mouth is. Nice to see that other professionals can understand how good the Ginger Assassin is, even from our rivals.

Do players vote for PFA Player of the Year in February? :eek:Yes, it's done early. I remember that the season in which van Nistelrooy broke Denis Law's scoring record in Europe, Thierry Henry won the PFA award, because he had had a superior early half of the season. I remember being suprised that they voted on it so early, and some people were muttering that the voting should be pushed back. I don't know why it's always done so early; I assume there's a good reason.
