This just in United Fans...

Rumor has it that United will be having a Blackout Party next Tues at the Lucky Bar on Connecticut Ave just south of Dupont Circle.

Time, players to attend, drink specials and other details will be coming but good sources say that the DCU brass has it arranged.

Party your team to victory. Look for an announcement soon and be there...
:D

Actually it's not a rumor, from the latest On Tap's Weekly Events update:

Join D.C. United players, coaches and staff at Lucky Bar for a Blackout Party on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. to meet the players and take part in a raffle giveaway. RSVP to winstuff@ontaponline.com to win a pair of tickets to the game on the 29th, but you must be present to pick them up. Lucky Bar is located at 1221 Connecticut Ave., NW.

Who the hell can be anywhere at 4 PM on a Tuesday?

You'd have to work at home, or something...

Students and the unemployed? Yeah I couldn't believe the timing of this thing either. Don't know if On Tap, the bar or DCU set it.

Students and the unemployed?

Yep, that's about it. But fortunately I get out of class at 4:15, just around the block on Mass Ave. I'll be there!

Well, I do work at home, but Tuesdays are my worst day of the week, particularly late in the afternoon.

If I can move some things around, I'll be there.

I can, since I think it's only one hour earlier than the way they did it last year. Which was equally annoying. Oh well.

How about a Federal employee who works across the street from Lucky Bar?

I can make it, as far as my schedule stands now. My morning appointment will be long overwith.

WTF! 4PM on a Tuesday! I guess they wanted to have the entire place to themselves...

Guess I'll have to come down with an early season flu bug.

All you have to do is mention "intestinal issues" and nobody wants you around!

Can we pick up our blackout shirts there, if we forgot to get 'em last weekend?

i heard from a friend that they got their blackout shirts at sunday's game, but i thought they actually hand them out at the first playoff game?

i didn't get my vouchers for the blackout shirt until after sunday anyways. i only saw them handing out little towels on sunday.

OK, it seems the funky timing is so this event can make the evening news (if there's not a crowd there is that a good thing?) Anywho the person I contacted thinks a few of the guys will linger past 6 (and the party will go on past 6) so come when you can.

No sh1t.

Hello? DC United? Those of us season ticket holders might actually have to have a job to afford them...

Hey! Maybe since their play off party is at such a bad time for most fans they could get all of us season ticket holders into the special access bar at the east end of RFK - you know, for the effort.
