Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has praised the performances of defensive duo Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.
The pair arrived at Old Trafford in January, and the United boss says they now have a full grasp of the British game and, more importantly, the Reds' style of play.
"You're now seeing the results of Nemanja and Patrice playing over six months of football with us," Sir Alex told MUTV. "They now have a good understanding of the way we play and the English game, plus they know the other players better."
Vidic powered home his first goal in a red shirt in United's 3-1 victory at Wigan on Saturday, heading past Chris Kirkland from a Ryan Giggs corner. Sir Alex was delighted to see the Serbian international open his United account and even more pleased to see it arrive via a set-piece.
"We've got a reasonable record from set-pieces this season which is good to see," he explained. "Nemanja is such a brave lad, he's not afraid to stick his head in; he's like Brucey [Steve Bruce] in that sense.
"If you do that you're going to get a good percentage of goals and hopefully the goal at Wigan is his first of many for us.
"Patrice is also a gutsy lad." added the United boss. "He makes the odd mistake at times simply because he's so keen, but overall he's coming on great."
