Revs fans, I thought I'd point out a great article to you in today's Washington Post sports page. The article is all about Taylor Twellman. It's written by the Post's soccer beat reporter, Steven Goff. The article is part of an MLS preview series the Post is doing leading up to Saturday's All Star game.

Considering Taylor Twellman's athletic bloodlines, his first season in Major League Soccer is no surprise...

Wonderful article, thanks Darryl.

Twellman signed with MLS last winter and was drafted second overall by the Revolution. Twellman has a four-year contract (including several option years) that pays him a paltry $24,000, the rookie minimum. It's believed, with bonuses, he could earn another $10,000 this year, but that still leaves him more than $250,000 behind many of MLS's high-profile veterans.

Managment, listen up, get this kid signed to a long term deal with lots of money. He isn't a fluke. I was one of the people that wasn't suprised that he would be among the scoreing leaders through the year. Get him a contract at around $150K to $250K, he deserves it.

He'll make a lot more that $10,000 in achievable bonuses this year. He gets extra for every goal and assist, not to mention making the all-star team and possibly winning the golden boot. He'll surely get some votes for MVP, which will also net him some cash. At the very least he'll double his salary, but even if he gets 5 times that, he's still a bargain.

An interesting side note in the "It's a small world" catagory: I've known and worked with Mr. Goff's mother for quite a few years. Neat lady and obviously a very smart son if he's a soccer beat reporter to the Washington Post :-)

Hell we're getting to be just one big family!

Another good Taylor article in USA Today:

This guy can not be for real- it is just not possible for someone to be as well grounded as he is, is it?
