The club denied an Israeli report that it has invited Maccabi Haifa to play a friendly at RFK Stadium next year.

United Vice President Stephen Zack said he had been approached by the Israeli Embassy about a possible game, but there were no follow-up talks and, because of several expected scheduling conflicts, "I would be surprised if we could fit in such a game."

Wow, if Esky could regain his early season form, that would be...

Awesome.

No one better to get it back against, than the Red Bulls away.

I feel like we're playing almost too slow sometimes,

Almost?

We will need somebody to pick it up in each game of the playoffs and having Esky on the front line will be the start.
Esky's on the prowl!
Time for another Johnny Walker moment??

Esky echoes what a lot of us have been saying:

"I feel like we're playing almost too slow sometimes, where we are just going side to side in the midfield instead of looking at our forwards' runs and slipping a through ball or even hitting a long ball," Eskandarian said.

"We're a great team in terms of combinations, but we can mix it up more. It's taking too long to get into the attack, and defenses are outnumbering us and just waiting for us."

Remember this?
Freddy Adu was showing no fear in his matchup with Roberto Carlos and Sergio Ramos on the left side of the Real defense, and with a quick shimmy he skipped clear down the right flank, sending in a bending cross that fell to Josh Gros beyond the far post.

Gros laid off for Christian Gomez at the corner of the area, who found Moreno with his back to goal near the penalty spot, and the Bolivian dropped a delicate pass into the stride of Alecko Eskandarian as he raced into the box. The ball was perfectly placed on Eskandarian's left foot and he drilled a first-time shot past Casillas into the net to draw D.C. level.
That kind of quick attack has somehow gone away.

Didn't this article run a couple of weeks ago? Supposedly Esky's been ready to assert himself for the better part of the past month. If he got any more assertive, Monk would be calling him passive-agressive.

Sachin

And here I thought fatherhood would inject a sense of optimism into you.
Apparently, not when it pertains to United.:D

Optimisim? What, when every week you have to explain to the next generation why Papa is not around...

"Yes, Papa is not here to play with you because he has to go to the Stadium to watch DC United get their asses handed to them..."

So, DC United has an obligation to start winning so that we can explain to our Soccer Widows and Orphans why Papa isn't around!

Kick some Red Donkey ass!!!

Well it's playoff time. If you're not ready to assert yourself you've got a major problem.

The return of Esky could be great for the team. We certainly missed his presence in the playoffs last year. If he can catch fire, this could be a good run to another Cup. If he doesn't, we're probably doomed with the way the other guys have been playing to this point.

I would expect nothing less than 100% from Esky.
He can drive you nuts (trying to dribble defenders) but he is one of those guys who can finish strong and fast one of Jaime or Gomez methodical but slow build ups.
I would also like to see more of Gomez running at defenders. He is one of our best finishers and if properly motivated (pissed about a card, etc.) he can start and finish long runs at goal.

I don't know if that's true, but I know I've never seen him pass the ball to one.

I think we all see what Esky is seeing. DC needs to play with the pace they had against Real Madrid. If they do that there is no one in MLS that can stop us.
