In one of the more random things my cable company has done, CA TV is being shown on Cox 3.

I believe they show all Charlton Athletic games on delay. Also, the quality of the picture makes it appear that the match was actually taped in 1977 and it's really quite bizarre.

That might be the oddest thing I've ever heard of.

I only pay $10 or so a month for the extremely basic cable/too lazy to just put an antenna on my house cable. So it's a bonus to get some EPL.

Somehow, it's one of the shows carried by America One Sports, home of such events as CFL football, ECHL hockey, NLL lacrosse, poker, outdoors shows, etc.

Usually, America One licenses its content to regional cable sports networks, but they also have some of their own low-power over-the-air stations that may or may not show these programs. Who knows how this shows up on a basic cable channel.

There's a big Italian population in the Comcast cable zone I'm in, and on Sunday mornings they show RAI programming on the public access channel, including soccer sometimes, though I don't believe it's ever been live matches. That's the closest to this circumstance -- if you look at America One's website, they say they'll help you get programming on in your area. Perhaps they give it to Cox if a local citizen requests it. That's how public access works -- if a subscriber requests a show and the rightsholder is willing to release it, then the cable company HAS to show it. That's how we get the RAI shows, which look like the same third-generation VHS programming as your Charlton shows.

RAI shows 1 match every Sunday when the season is on at 11am-1245pm on ch 25 here in NYC. They show the whole match other than halftime.

That's not RAI, but whatever...

The game on channel 25 is part of an RAI International 6 hour programming block broadcast on Sundays from 8am to 2 pm. Channel 25 is a NYC-owned station, and is either given the programming or the time is leased from them.

yes, HDsports is correct. SOmetimes it's a really good match, other times not, but either way it's another match to watch.

Isn't channel 13 the PBS station for NY? Maybe you guys have two. I hear about channel 25, they show the listings in the Oggi newspaper. We used to have free RAI in Hartford but it was 24 hours a day on (our) channel 13, now it's spanish, of course.

Channel 25 started out as a NYC board of Education channel with instructional programming (as well as some secondhand PBS shows). After Mayor Giuliani sold off NYC's Channel 31 in the 1990s (now a PAX station), the ethnic programming formerly on that station (including the RAI programming) migrated over to channel 25.
