He got some great plaudits for his performance at the weekend, and they were well-deserved.

I'm interested in whether you think Rooney has been as bad this season as the media has made out. And whether you think he has turned the corner (if one needed to be turned).

Yes he has been as bad as the media made it. Miscontrolling passes consecutively and poor passes.

I do think this is a turning point.

Not as bad as the Media have made him out to have been... but certainly below his lofty standards.

He didn't need nor will he have a turning point. It was all very gradual. He was not good when he first came back but he's slowly but surely getting to full fitness and sharpness.

The turning point took place a match earlier. I hadn't seen the England game until Sunday afternoon here and, remembering the condemnation of the England performance, was surprised to see that Rooney did not play at all badly. The poor touch that ruined his game before that was not evident in the Croatia game. Only once did he allow the ball to get away from him from poor control.

He may not have scored but he should have had a penalty when pulling the ball down from his chest RvN style just inside the box and about to shoot when he was unceremoniously flattened including a hand in the face (the ref chickened out and gave a dubious offside decision against him) and on another occasion hit a shot that left the keeper helpless but just cleared the bar. His link up play was very good but he simply didn't get any sort of support from Neville and Cole out wide or Crouch alongside.

His performance against Wigan merely built on that. This time his shot hit the bar. The next one will be a little lower still and goes in :)
