Hi guys. Just starting to play again after MANY years off. Probably play a couple times a week, rec-level, on firm grass. My skill level is low. Any suggestions on a mid level boot? (definitely under $100) Thanks!

The Adidas Manics look pretty good and you can find them for around 80. Alot of people around here wear them and find them pretty comfortable.

Eurosport has the Kelme Toro on sale for about 60 bucks, and I've never been dissatisfied with Kelme (waiting on the new Embrujo trx. damn backorders)

i would say manic ii's (look for the new metallic grey-silver-red color coming out, it has a two-piece outsole like the mania's, hidden lacing system, etc)

or

copa mundial's (classics)

both are comfortable, but the copa has better cushioning imo

Cleats are a personal thing, and a pair that one person loves may be terrible for you. You should really try on the shoes you want before you buy them and make sure there are no points of slipping, sliding, excess compression or too much room.

And I'd suggest going for leather not synthetics. I used to wear leather cleats that were all really comfortable, then some synthetic ones - all of them I've had problems with. Now I decided I'm gonna get a real leather pair again, since I need new ones anyway.

first off, what foot shape do you have (narrow/normal/wide)

Synthetic vs. K-leather vs. Cow Leather: Synthetic has the least amount of upkeep, and is quite durable.

K-leather will over a better fit then cow leather (so Copa > Manic's for fit)

Cow leather is more durable then k-leather....

I'll second the copa mundial. It's really comfy and it fits my foot perfectly.

Don't bother with suggestions, go to a store and try as many pairs as you can.

Yeah, but the problem with the copas is that they don't fit you immediately. After a week or two, they mold to your feet and are incredible.

...With the possible exception of Puma King's... definitely worth a try.

Also keep in mind that different brands fit differently. For example, I love Diadora Brasil because they have a really snug fit but if you have wider feet, Puma would be better since they're built on a wider last.

If you're a beginner, I say stay away from the high tech shoes and go with the classics like Copa Mundial, King and Brasil.

One can never go wrong with a good pair of Copa Mundials.
