View Full Version : Official Kieron Dyer Deathwatch Thread [R]

Based on an idea by Montréal United, this thread will be used to track the latest in the ongoing saga of Kieron Dyer in his attempt to play for Newcastle United.
According to this article (http://www.premierleague.com/fapl.rac?command=setSelectedId&nextPage=enNewsLatest&id=1450994&type=com.fapl.website.news.NewsItem&categoryCode=NewsLatestFAPremierLeagueNews) Dyer's expected return is October 28th home to Charlton.
Basically, we need from everyone the number in minutes until Dyer is officially listed "out" again.
Rules are as follows:
First come, first served. So the first person to pick 0 minutes gets that he gets injured before playing first team football for Newcastle again. You can also pick never. However, I don't know how we'd score this pick seeing how never is an awfully long time, unless we cut bait with him in Janurary, or sometime before he plays again.
Cup games count.
Closest to the number without going over. So if you pick 100 minutes and he playes 102 minutes, you are SOL. Even if the next lowest number is 200 minutes.
Winner must be repped (positively) by all participants.
I'm kicking things off with 435 minutes.
Please keep this thread for the contest only. There is a thread for general Dyer discussion here.
Thx,
Jay!

So Dyer actually has to get on the pitch for the minutes to count, right? He could be selected for the squad but never play.
Based on the above, I will take 140 minutes.

What if he gets a dead leg and comes out, but plays the next match? Does that count or does it have to be serious?
I'll say 615 minutes because I like him and I want to see him out there.

Good question. I'd like to say he's off the next team sheet due to injury. Like he pulls a hammy and misses the next game.
But what if it just get's a little tight, he comes out but is back for the next game. We'll have to mull that situation over. Technically he's coming off because of injury, but he's not missing any time. Knowing Kieron it will be a major injury though, and the question will be moot.
Thx,
Jay!

I vote that he has to miss a game. Roeder may choose to give him a run out at the beginning of the game and after so many minutes, sub him. You know they are going to treat with care.

I'm honored you took on upon my idea...
So, let's see a few subs to start, then a couple of starts. Then boom...
So, I'll guess 270 minutes of game time.
The game ends as soon as Roeder can't pick him for a match due to injury (slight or severe).

365 minutes ... to represent the number of days he gets paid to not play each year. :)

227 minutes. And I too vote that he has to miss a game due to injury for the contest to end.
