Apparantly he was the guy piloting the plane in New York!!
Traded from the Phillies to the Yankees as part of the Abreu deal - this is a strange/tragic story.

I live TWO blocks from the scene of the accident. Luckily for me, I had to work til 7 that day. There was a wind blowing from the east, it was cloudy (a rainstorm started about 30 minutes after the crash) and the space allowed for a turn is far too narrow (planes are not allowed over Roosevelt Island airspace, and there's a wall of high rises all along the west bank of the East River) The flight instructor was from California, and more used to wide open spaces.
There are still media trucks/satellite dishes on the street. The building still has kileg lights illuminating it (my bus stop is ONE block away)
