WOW!

I just signed up for Setanta, and I cant believe the rediculous games I am going to be getting. Man Utd this weekend, the Tottenscummers, ligue 1 matches, rugby, and the coca cola championships most other weekends. I cant believe I lived without this before. It is truly worth the $15 a month, and I cant wait to watch next weeks CL's games on it. Anyone else in love with spending money on premium football?

I'd say it was an ad if it were not for the misspellings...

Couldn't agree more. It's the best coverage of the 3 soccer stations (in my opinion).

I end up watching Setanta 75% of the time now for soccer. I can't live without it! Now that they have the French highlight show... they are my FRIENDS! :)

Would an adbot really use the phrase "Tottenscummers"?

Maybe it's not automated. It may be an actual person, but indeed an ad. :D

Just to bring people down to earth, I thought I'd mention that Setanta's scheduling of reruns sucks. This morning their schedule said they were going to show Ireland/Czech at 9:30 ET, so I turned it on to start recording and I hear the announcers mention the game is in the second half already. Thanks for nothing (well half nothing half a game) Setanta! For $15 a month, is sticking to a schedule of already taped events that much to ask? I do have to admit Setanta is better than FSC and Gol TV combined as I am mostly interested in international and Champions League soccer, which is why I continue to pay their outrageous prices but events like today's give me second thoughts...

I have to say that Setanta is amazing in its coverage of European football. They show more Ligue 1 games than FSC showed, they show more Premier League games than were available on PPV last year, and, most importantly, they are showing a ton of CL matches and Euro Qualifiers. But I don't know what happened this past week with their schedule. Matches weren't shown that were listed, some matches started early (e.g., Poland-Portugal started 20 minutes early), some matches started in the middle of the match, and sometimes they listed one match but showed another. I understand that feeds from Europe can be down and that not all the feeds are coming from SKY, which might hinder things. But updating the Web site and getting proper updates to DirecTV for their schedule should not be a problem. Their problems with this reflects an amateur network at best. And their is *no* excuse for starting matches at strange times (again, the Poland-Portugal match) when the match is being shown on delay--we're not talking about the standard 20 minute delay of an Argentine league match here. Take care.

Hahahaha. You pay $15/month for Setanta, but I get FSC for free from TWC Digital Cable package, (GolTV to be added soon) and whatever I want to watch on Setanta I just go online.

Online isn't as convenient as TV.

So you get what you pay for. Hope you enjoy lots of MLS and college soccer. :(

Ummm...I see everything everyone else sees and more online. There's nothing like seeing Football Focus, Soccer AM, and Match of the Day week in and week out.
Plus, Football Icon 2 just started up on Sky again, so that's another good one to watch.
It makes you realise how substandard the programming we get from GolTV, FSC and even Setanta is.

BTW - All of this for free as well, which IMHO trumps conveniece.

Yeah, I know. But dustcowpoke was laughing at people who pay $15/month for Setanta, which is chicken-feed. Of course, the shows you mentioned, that aren't on Setanta are worth watching online.

But since TWC doesn't carry Setanta, the joke is on dustcowpoke.

I wish FSC could get some of these programs instead of having FC Fox and College Soccer on all the time now. Dream Team is good, it would be nice if they had more.

Nah mate the joke is on you I get all kinds of football online, plus FSC, plus ESPN CL games and other ESPN broadcasts, plus TWC just added HDNet onto my package so more MLS and play-offs. All this and $15 more in my pocket.

Once Setanta is offered on TWC and it's $10/month then it will be worth it.

NASN on Sky is $12/month, it is just the opposite of Setanta.

Agreed, many times over.
They don't have much to lose by taking the chance.
At this point the LA originated programming is servicable, and the FSWR the best show they have.
Obviously money for programming is a problem, but considering Soccer AM and Football Icon are owned by Sky you'd think they could cut a deal like they do for all the other Sky content they air.
I'd be happy for the Soccer AM "Best Bits" if not the whole show.

I wonder what they would do if they had money?
Would they follow the well worn US sports programming formula like ESPN, or would they dare to create their own identity?

Common, be honest. I don't believe for a second that you wouldn't pay $15/month for Setanta. The only reason you watch Setanta games online is because TWC doesn't offer Setanta.

I have TWC too. I pay about $200/month. So if/when TWC adds Setanta to their lineup, should I worry about a cable bill that's $215/month or $210/month? That's a no-brainer.

I mean it would make more sense to pay $0/month and use nothing but rabbit ears and the internet, than to quibble about $5 (or 3% of the bill) on a channel that will arguably give you more quality soccer than all other 874 channels combined.

FSC is a joke now... all they've got is the EPL. No more Bundesliga, no French Ligue 1, no more world soccer show. All the things that made FSC great are gone. Adding college soccer and MLS games shows how desperate they are to fill in their programming.

Unless Setanta and Gol are coming to cable might have to break down and switch to satellite.
