Hi,
Can anyone help me with some soccer-friendly bars in St. Louis.
I'll be there in a few weeks, and am looking to watch a weekend morning game.
Thanks in advance,
MK

Sorry I didn't see this post sooner. I haven't had much cause to come to this forum until Gold Cup venues come out. The best place to go is O.B. Clark's:

If you'll be near downtown, the dubliner is a good choice, but they are not open for early games:

In both cases, calling ahead is the best policy. OB Clark's has FSC, GolTv, and Setanta. The Dubliner has Setanta, and I'm not sure what other channels.

A.C. Grassi is certainly worth a try. Sorry, but the link I have isn't working; maybe they're no longer online?

So according to this link, AC Grassi no longer exists in its original form, having been replaced by Grassi's West which is not soccer-friendly? Bummer. I heard that you could request recorded games to be played at AC Grassi or watch live matches. I surprised that there's no place on The Hill that is a soccer bar.

I was in OB Clarks over the holidays. We watched the Mizzou-Illinois game. It is a nice venue to watch sports. I previously had been there for the USMNT v Germany friendly back in 2001. That was the night I told my St. Louis friend about a 12 year old I had watched play in MD that had caught my eye.

When I got there, for some reason, I just started walking from near the baseball stadium, towards the EJ Dome.
I didn't know of any bars that might be showing EPL games; I was just looking for something - anything.
I came across a somewhat silent street and found an Irish bar there.
They were showing rugby from Australia, but I was able to get one changed to a soccer game.
For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the place.

Any locals know if O.B. Clark's will be open at 6:30 a.m. next Saturday for the Liverpool v. Man Utd game. I'm staying out in West County but I'll have a car. Just flying in for a long weekend but couldn't bear to miss this game. PM me if there is a better plac to see this one. Thanks in advance.

I would be shocked if OB Clarks is open at 6:30AM. I have been told they have Setanta but I have never watched a match there.
If the game is on Setanta, the only bar I know of in town that has Setanta is The Dubliner on Washington Avenue in Downtown. They occasionally open early on the weekends for Rugby broadcasts (the Manager is an Irish ex-pat who played professionally) - may do the same for Liverpool. Regardless, you can catch the replay there later in the day. The Dubliner also has FSC.
The Scottish Arms off of Forest Park Parkway has FSC but does not have Setanta (unless they recently added it).
Good luck to you and Liverpool.

Scottish Arms is a good environment for watching soccer. OB Clarks will show some games if you ask them to turn it on and they seem to, but I wouldn't watch soccer there if you had another choice. The Dubliner downtown in the Washington street area would be a good environment to watch some soccer. They definately will always be showing soccer. A restaurant/ bar in Clayton, not a typical Clayton joint, called Barristers carries both Setanta and FSC, or at least the last time I checked, and they have the place decorated with some English club's flags and what-not and it is a good place to watch a game-but I was never there on a Saturday mourning with EPL games going on. But, I watched the USA vs Italy game there last year during the World Cup and it had to be one of the best places to watch the game in St. Louis. Also, I noticed Helen Fitzgeralds was airing Setanta sports (rugby) on a Friday night while the other ten tvs were showing the Cardinals, so that is likely another option. I'm sure there is other great places to watch soccer in St. Louis...I just need to find them.

Just called around - I can't find anyone that has either GOL TV or Telefutura for tomorrow's USA/ARG match - maybe someone does, and they don't know it. Everyone knows they have Setanta and FSC, though, so I guess they have some idea what they're talking about.
Are we just out of luck here in the Lou?

Another hint if you're looking for these games is that a lot of Mexican restaurant bar type places have satellite to get games in Spanish and have the Copa games showing.

I am in St. Louis area and my in-laws do not have ESPNU. Any idea where I can see the U-20's game tomorrow?

O.B. Clark's is hands down the premier soccer bar in St. Louis. If they are open, and there is a game on (FSC, Setanta, GolTV, you name it), they will be showing it; and on at least half of the available televisions. I've lived in St. Louis for several years now and tried many diffrent places for watching footy. O.B. Clark's is by far the best.

I've recently discovered O.B. Clark's and have always had a good time there. I assume they have ESPNU and will be showing the game today. The staff are nice enough, if they don't have it on I'm sure they'd put it on one their two-dozen tv's for you.

I too have sung the praises of OB Clarks on these boards. I was not sure that they had ESPNU. Thanks to ESPN for carrying the game on their flagship, I was able to watch the game at my in-laws house and maintain the domestic bliss of my 20 year marriage.
