hi guys,
i'm a celtic fan from glasgow and a good friend of mine who was born in germany but now lives in australia has been raving on about david vrzogic.
i read a little bit about him. i know that dortmund have high hopes for him and he's got dual citizenship between germany and croatia ( i think ) and he's just turned 17.
i thought i'd ask you knowledgeable people a couple of things -
1. just how good is he and how good can he become?
2. what kind of contract have dortmund got him tied to?
any responses would be much appreciated.
thanks

As for all the talents: Tough to predict. But he seems special as he already had some (test) match appearances and as all the pro's are praising him as a great talent. Plus: He is one of the few left-backs. A position that is damn needed by most teams.
2. what kind of contract have dortmund got him tied to?
Till 2008.

ok thanks for that. sorry i put the thread on the wrong place in the forum. it will be hard for him to eventually, if he becomes that good that is, break into the national team now that marcel jansen has established himself at LB.
dortmund seem to have some terrific talents coming through. i read on a thread that man utd were reportedly going to offer 9mill euro's in the summer for sebastian tyrala because they were afraid they may have lost ronaldo.
was this feasible? would they really have paid that high an amount of money for him? is it true that the polish fa have approached him about playing for their country?

Very true. I wouldn't blame the kid if he decided to play for Croatia.

The rumors I heard were that Man U. were going to make a six million pound offer for Nuri Sahin had they sold Ronaldo. Man U. were never going to "lose" Ronaldo. They would have had to make a conscious decision to sell him and I never thought SAF would do that.
Ronaldo was just afraid of the reception he'd get at the club and in England after his antics at the World Cup. I think he's happy he stayed now.
I thought those Sahin rumors were all BS at the time and that Dortmund would not have sold Sahin anyhow. I never heard Tyrala's name in that discussion.

They paid 18M pounds for Michael Carrick (Stupid in my opinion!) and were prepared to play over 20M Euros for Owen Hargreaves.....
is it true that the polish fa have approached him about playing for their country?
I don't know the answer to this one. "jonam?"

i found it strange that tyrala's name was mentioned also, but that's what i read. sahin makes much more sense, though by all accounts i hear he's having a rough time of it so far this season.
i wonder is this because now that rosicky has gone maybe privately more expectation was placed on his young shoulders and he's found it hard to cope with?
when rosicky was at the club he was the midfield star and sahin could be more relaxed and enjoy his football more. is this possibly the case?
also, as a footnote, good luck against england u-21's tonight. i will be watching the game live on sky sports. i thought you were unlucky to lose the first leg although i was a bit disappointed with kiessling. he looked short of confidence. do you know if trochowski has been recalled to the u-21's for this important match or will he remain with the full squad?

So much is written these days. You can't believe all of it.

I don't think so. I think Sahin just isn't ready to take on such a major role yet.
I think the hype surrounding him is much larger than his actual talent level. Remember, this is still a young kid.
Besides, Pienaar was brought in to handle the central midfield duties. We were never going straight from Rosicky to Sahin.
BVB are brining Sahin along well enough. Don't forget, Sahin only saw so much time last year because of injuries.

Kiessling is a guy I feel is just overrated. He's definitely talented, but I don't think he's as good as the German press makes him out to be.

Sorry, I don't know this. I haven't bought yesterday's "kicker" yet. :o

Yes, Tyrala had an offer by Poland but at the moment refuses to play for their NTs.
