So I was just looking to see what matches setanta will be showing on the next match day and next to the Arsenal and liverpool matches it says PPV..Is setanta going to charge extra for these matches? That would be riddclous since we are already shelling out $15.95/mo to get it..

Where are you getting your info?
The next Liverpool match is on Setanta Sports USA live. The next Arsenal match is on FSC same-day delay.

he's talking about champions league games, not premier league games. and he's right. they won't be available live via setanta USA, they will only be available live in bars and pubs that have setanta PPV. The same games will be aired in the evening (at 7:00 PM Eastern on Tuesday for Arsenal and 8:30 PM Eastern on Wednesday for Liverpool) on Setanta USA.
Edit: I don't know if this means that the games will be PPV only or if they will be on Setanta USA AND available to bars and pubs on a PPV basis.
Setanta USA does not have another program scheduled at the times those games are live, so I am assuming that's what it means.

Have we confirmed this with setanta? If true this is riddclous and could be taken as a sign that setanta needs cash badly..

If you look at the TV schedule on the Setanta site PPV is listed in parentheses but there is a huge gap in the schedule if these games aren't actually shown on Setanta USA. I can't see the channel having dead air for that time. My guess, and this is uncomfirmed since I didn't notice the ppv until reading this thread, si that Setanta will sell the game as ppv to non-Setanta customers. So DirecTV subscribers can purchase the match via ppv rather than subscribing. But, again, this is only a guess. And to be honest, that would be ridiculous unless the ppv cost is $1.99. If you start paying for a bunch of ppv matches, you should just subscribe since the cost is cheap given the number of great futbol games each month. Maybe Oliver or one of the other insiders can shed a bit more light on the subject. Take care.

this is the way i seem to remember them doing it in the past. they would mark a game as PPV if it was also available as ppv to bars/pubs.

I think these 2 games will be showed delayed on ESPN Classics too. Check your soccer tv listings for updates.

ESPN2 is certain to pick the Chelsea and Manchester United games, so that would leave Arsenal and Liverpool to Setanta.
Who did Setanta show as their live games the first two match days?

Espn is showing chelsea and man u while showing arsenal and liverpool on espn classic.Remember the arsenal match is an early kickoff so it wasnt even a viable live option.

I called Setanta to find out what the story was on the "(PPV)" designations. The programming person was as mystified as I was, but checked into it and called me back. The short answer: It was a mistake...those games will be on live as scheduled on Setanta USA.

I hope they are right.
It is a bit weird the way it is listed. And some of the schedule for the weekends internationals were messed up on Setanta.
Champions League on Setanta has been great this year so far.

This is absolute B.S. I saw on the website, just the other day, that this game would be shown...and there was no (PPV) next to it. Come on, Setanta. Do the right thing. You don't need to charge extra when we are already paying for the channel.

Excellent news..Is there any chance a moderator could lock and delete this thread since it has been resolved and would only cause confusion by being here?
