Indulge me, if you will. This is a game I play with older Reds who have seen far more players live than I. I have seen many older games via recordings dating all the way back to the 1948 and ‘58 FA Cup final’s, but as I wasn’t alive then and getting those older games is a nightmare, I feel that my quest for knowledge of this time period can never really be met, but by talking top chappy’s like yourself.

I’m guessing you’re the kind of fellow who wouldn’t mind playing along as you seem to enjoy imparting knowledge, as do I, your reference points, however, extend a lot further than mine, cos you’re a lot older than me. Anyway, some questions for you,

In your time watching amongst those who have come through the club (please put them in order 1 being the best):

1. Who are the top 5 dribblers?
2. Who are the top 5 shooters? (any range)
3. Who are the top 5 captains?
4. Who are the top 5 passers? (any range)
5. Who are the top 5 headers of a ball?
6. Who are the top 5 strikers (all-round as players)?
7. Who are the top 5 centre backs?
8. Who are the top 5 wingers?
9. Who are the top 5 central midfielders/wing halves?
10. Who are the top 5 full backs?
11. Who are the top 5 tacklers?
12. Who are the top 5 enforcers?
13. Who are the top 5 technically complete players?
14. Who are the top 5 entertainers (the players that can get the crowd euphoric)?
15. Who are the top 5 keepers?
16. Who are the top 5 players out of the academy/homegrown?
17. Who are the top 5 foreigners (Eire and rest of UK excluded)?
18. Who are the top 5 crossers of a ball?
19. Who are the top 5 set piece takers?
20. Who are the top 5 players of all-time to have played for Manchester United?
21. Last but not least, what would be your all-time xi representative for Manchester United – you have to use a proper back 4 but can use a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2. Also add either 5,7 or 11 subs (your choice)

Hope you indulge us with this. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to know your views. No skirting! No bias either :) Is Paddy better than Scholesy? Keano over Robbo? Does Ince make top 5 CM’s? Have a think and let us know!! :)
