YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turkey? Turkey did what? Oooo yea mighty Turkey lost to England! Booo HOOO 2-0!!!!

Beckham off a bit but made up for it with the penalty and a few kisses after curses to a turkish player.

Vassel redeems himself in my book

Rooney has mad potential, almost got a goal.

I hate whoever #5 is on Turkey, what a f u c k i n g jack ass. Didn't even get a yellow for his countless reckless plays.

REF. SUCKED!!

All in all a great win for England, can't wait for October 11 (:(). This should silence the critics.

An excellent display from England especially Butt, who broke up play very well. I hope now Heskey can be laid to rest. Amazing save from James at the end although he did look shakey a couple of times.

I'm really surprised England won this game. Did the Turks have an off game, or did England play real well?

James does deserve credit for a great save against Emre's (?) late header. But he almost had another nightmare on a high ball he let bounce in the box.

Seriously, what was James doing in there? How many more times does he have to display such glaring mistakes before Robinson, Wright, and others get their due time? Why James over Russel Hoult, for example? Alright, this isn't a match to give a guy he's first cap. But Hoult's played well. And it's not like West Ham has faired that much better than WBA this year. Every keep makes there glaring mistake every now and then. But David's knickname Calamity has been well earned on his part; it's not a misnomer.

Sinner, not at all. I thought with the crap game against Lichtenstein, they would not show well against the Turks.

those comments from southgate just about sum up the turks..

England squad player Gareth Southgate said: "There was a bit of pushing and a lot of banter. "'Wait until you come to Turkey' was the shout, with fingers being passed across throats. And that was just the kit man!"

They turn nasty if you beat them....
start handing out threats...

When was the last time England was in the finals for Europe? Does anyone have a link that shows the finalists? Thanks.

This is from the English FAs website:
Quote from England coach Ray Clemence:
"Instances like these are not unusual in football. There was no fighting and no physical contact whatsoever. The whole situation was blown out of all proportion."

Last night Turkey coach Senol Gunes added: ``Because of stress and tiredness, there were a few rows in the tunnel but they are settled now.''

sinner_ronald_monk, please stop your anti turkish threads. I don't know why but every single time you write about turkey or turkish football it is negative.
Please answer this question. Do you hate Turkey and Turks in general?

Anyways congratulations to the English. You were the better team and you deserved the win. We will meet again in two weeks I believe.

Wildman, what do you mean the finals? England were in the 00,96,92 and 88 finals.

Back to the match . . . .

Anyone know why Sas did not start for Turkey. I certainly don't follow his career, but I thought he had a phenomenal World Cup. I was surprised he wasn't in the first 11.

I was watching at a pub, so it was bit hard to follow him when he did enter the match, but he didn't seem to have too great an impact. (He was easier to spot when he was bald. heh.)

PS: Here's hoping for no violence (from anyone, against anyone) at the return match.

Since the WC he had a terrible season in Galatasaray. It seemed like he doesn't want to play anymore. He did not even had the will to run in the last couple of months. That's why he did not start the game.
