So if I choose let's say Melgar, does that mean I'm playing with Melgar and only Melgar players or is this gonna be a draft like league?

Because if it is a draft like league then we wouldn't need to choose the team names from the leagues. I'm saying this because there's a lot more U, AL, SC fans than Melgar, A. Atletico and the like.

I would like to know more about the player selection. :)

For the moment yes, you just manage one team. Something that I'm planing to introduce at some point is an application process that will decide who gets to be manager of the popular teams U, AL, SC, etc. This will be based on previous performance, of course, for example the average of points/goals per game of each manager. Right now teams are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. Surprisingly enough, for me at least, no one has taken AL, SC, and SB yet.

As for the player selection, the names are fake but realistic for a Peruvian league. That is, you won't have a P_Crouch, Z_Zidane, etc. but you will have A_Perez, R_Farfan, etc. I do not want to create players with real names because it'll take too long to create their stats. I'm willing to let the participants create rosters, though. Another reason why I would't like real names is because the player stats are updated after each game so after a few seasons the player stats may not reflect those of the player in real life.

Right now, all the teams have essentially the same strength and it is up to the managers to increase their player abilities by playing good games.

Then any team can choose any players from the league? You're not stuck with the roster of the team's name you chose.

So then I'd just name my team. I wouldn't have to choose one from the 12, right?

No, you don't pick players, you pick a team with a roster already defined. That, I think, is more realistic. There's no point in picking players that one doesn't know (because they have been invented) anyway. Note that this league is not like the other fantasy games online where you select players and make points based on their performance in real games. Here you get a roster, decide what your next squad and strategy is, then we simulate a game and you get the result. Your players then get their stats updated, increase/decrease abilities, receive injuries, suspensions, all based on the simulated games. What we do allow is for participants to pick any team name from the peruvian tournaments (descentralizado, segunda, copa peru, etc.) and then we create a roster for them. At the end of the season managers will have the chance to transfer players and add new players to their rosters from a free agent list.

Ok, let's try this thing. I'm a newbie to this kind of leagues where games are simulated so bare with me at the beginning. :D

No problem, I'm a newbie at administrating these kind of leagues myself so bare with me too! I'm writing a couple utilities to make playing the game simpler but it'll take a while. In the meantime, I'll be happy to answer any questions related to the game. You'll also be able to interact with the other participants so you can help each other.

I think you're in now but la U has a DT already. In order to be manager of the popular teams you need some experience. We have a few teams available right now so whoever wants to participate now is the time.
