"After the weekend we've had, I feel even more determination for working harder, improving the side and seeing the best from my team, and I want to see the same response from the players," he revealed.

"They know if we don't get the decisions, the best response is to score more goals. If we have had 14 shots on goal, we must be determined to have 30. If there's a big mistake in the game, we don't want to depend on the decisions to create more chances of our own.

"I'm not a manager who likes to talk and talk. I like to work and work. We are starting from now with the six players we have, but I expect those who've left for international duty to think a lot about what happened on Saturday and be ready to show a reaction when they come back in 10 days.

"I know a lot of people are talking about stupid things when they talk about the game. In the first half we played better than Bolton, and had a lot of shots on goal, but it's true we didn't create clear chances. The decision of the linesman was a turning point. It's the first time I have seen a linesman who wants to be a star. But in future we must make sure we don't lose games because of these mistakes.

"There is a big difference between the final score and what happened in the game. It's really frustrating because in different games there have been similar situations, and I hope by the end of the season these things will balance.

"In the last three away games, it's clear we've had more shots than our opponents and we've not taken our opportunities. I would be more worried if we'd played three games and not looked like scoring, but because we could have scored goals in all these games we must still feel positive.

"We need to improve our accuracy in front of goal, but I still believe in the players and know we will be better this season. The fixture list has made things virtually impossible for us at times. We have a lot of games when the players come back, but at least we'll be able to train with them. I spoke to a lot of them yesterday, and between now and when they come back, I will be talking to most of them on the phone and telling them to think hard about what we must do when they come back."

Well in. The first step in addressing a problem is to admit there is one.

Loooove that.

Although I don't know how much a team can do when a linesman screws them over like that.

I agree we have to find the back of the net period and thats that. We have wasted so many chances to win a match but have not done so and that has hurt us in our league standings. Of course the season has just begun and time can only tell if we suceed or not. I have faith that we can pull it together and our strike force of kuyt, crouchy , bell and fowler will be able to deliver. Now it's our defending also that needs a long hard look at because we have not looked the same strong defense as last year. I can see a turn around in the future as Agger will get stronger and start to gel with Carra and the other lads.
Never put your head down said Bill Shankly and i for one never will.

"If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later."

Some more measured talk (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch/drilldown/MW10554061003-1301.htm)from the Kop. Hyypia thinks the champions are only crowned in May (quelle horreur!). What will the pundits do till then? And us moaning fans?

It's ashame that he didn't admit his ridiculous squad rotation is partly to blame as well.

Is it? There is precious little evidence that it is, in my view. We dominated Chelsea, Everton and Bolton which we should never have done if rotation is that disruptive. Also, recall how long it took Crouch to score his first goal-- then the joke was about "Crouching Strker, Hidden Goals". Now the "wise" wonder why he doesn't start often  The new strikers are bedding in.

I think our malaise stems from a combination of many factors, new players settling in, rotten luck-- Bolton were not even attempting to play in our half and then they are gifted a freekick (we ought to have done better at defending, though)-- half of the back four in abysmal form (how many times has Carragher run towards goal instead of closing his man down?) and, above all else, incocuousnes at set-pieces.

Rotation may partly be culpable but not by as much as the wolves would have you believe.

imo i think the rotation is bunging us up, don't get me wrong i think rafa is a god but it seems to be screwing us around, play the squad that is winning don't keep changing it around unless injuries or lack of form occur
