OK. Where were we... Oh yeah!

Woo Hoo! Die Löwen win 2-0 vs. Jena at home. Goals by Baier and Ziegenbein.

Funny line about Berhalter on the buli.de ticker - 90th minute "lässt ihn aussehen wie einen Schuljungen". :p

Translated: "Leaves him looking like a schoolboy". Thankfully he wasn't scored upon.

The ticker made Baier's goal soud like a thing of beauty from midfield to the goal. Would love to see a highlight of that.

Well that is a step up from looking like a school girl.:D Though looking at how school girls play footy that may be more a complement than a put down.

I was happy to see the game analysis on BL.de. They seemed to have out played CZ and been in total control. Again, I am happy to see them playing well and don't care if they are at top of the table or in the middle...as long as they are not relegated.

As an Australian 1860 fan, who has been starved of information, especially since we got relegated, firstly, how is the team travelling, and secondly, is Paul Agostino still with the club?

By motor coach to save money.:D

Actually, away they are playing quite well. They have had a few tough teams on their away matches. They drew Fuerth away, beat Burghausen and drew with Duisburg. Given that they are so young, have little to no money and were relegation candidates last season I am incredibly impressed with how well they are playing.

is Paul Agostino still with the club?
Yes, he is still with the club. Paul (http://www.fussballdaten.de/spieler/agostinopaul/) is not seeing much action right now with the 2.BL club, but is seeing a ton of playing time with 1860 II in the Regionalliga (3rd Division). My guess is he is a step behind DiSalvo and "Fester" Vucicevic, not to mention Nicky Adler is the hot, young prospect working his ass off to win a first spot. 1860 has a soft spot for Paul so he is not likely to be forgotten and he is a loyal player. But at his age he may not have many other prospects in Germany...but you never know. I would love to see him hit form again and have a solid starting spot, but not sure how realistic that is.

Anyone else have thoughts on him?

Paul's one of my favorite players and one of the few holdouts from the Häßler/Max team that was so good.

He got into a 2. Liga game as a sub this season, so at least Schoko's not averse to using him as a striker, unlike some of our previous managers. He's also good to have in case of injury.

Got to agree with that. :o

Agree 100%. He is a guy who has ALWAYS been a team player. I think that is the reason 1860 has remained loyal to him b/c he has done the same for the club. I would VERY much like to see him remain with the club when he retires. He knows the club and the fans. He has always been a fan favorite.

Wasn't he injured during the summer? He had 31 games and 9 goals last season, so it would have been VERY unusual for Schoko to simply drop him from the starting line-up unless there was a substantial reason. [edit]: Perhaps the betting scnadal?

1860 II:
Seems the young-boys from 1860 II had another great game having "schlaegt" Saarbrucken 3-1 (http://www.tsv1860.de/?id=150&news_id=6883&back_id=122&offset=&limit=). Nice to see die Jungs doing well. They are certainly gaining experience and the older strikers are helping keep the team alive.

1860 Injuries:
The team website has a new feature (http://www.tsv1860.de/?id=6782) (at least I had not see it before) whereby they are giving updates on injured Loewen. Seems Pentke broke his fibula back in Semptember. I did not realize it was a break...perhaps that is better than a ligament tear. Ledgerwood has inflamation of the hip (curious for someone of his age)....hope that does not become chronic. Tyce has a cruciate ligament tear and is out another three months. Cerny has tendonitis of the Ischium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_of_ischium). I had never heard of the Ischium before, but since it is medical that does not mean shiite. :D I think, however, I might have it since my hip joint is in pain periodically. Must be an age thing.:D

A quick question: i remember hearing about the bwin controversy this summer, that it contravened the Bavarian state's legal monopoly on betting, and I remember it being announced that they would just put wewin on their shirts. The question (finally) is, what exactly was the result? Did they lose the case and are they just using the new logo as an f-you to the authorities? perhaps they just didn't want a blank shirt, as I have noticed with Werder Bremen? Thanks in advance.

The case is still pending from what I know. And as far as I know, Werder are still wearing the "We Win" in the Bundesliga. Just not in the Champions' League.

Both Werder and 1860 can wear "we win" shirts for BL and DFB Cup games. They cannot wear them for any other competitions, though not sure why if they were in Barcelona they could not wear them. Werder is selling the shirts with "we win" in their Fan Shop but curiously, 1860 is not. Must be because 1860 does not want to waste money on such a short term solution.

1860 Stuff....

DiSalvo Article (http://www.tsv1860.de/?id=150&news_id=6891&back_id=122&offset=&limit=): A good article on Toni and his past before 1860. If you don't read German, try babelfish.altavista.com.

Team System (http://www.tsv1860.de/?id=150&news_id=6898&back_id=122&offset=&limit=): Interesting article about how a few of the players view the Schachner system. Funny, but they are starting to call Ziegenbein "Gel Boy" because his hair does not move since it has so much gel in it.:D

CZ Wrap-Up: (http://www.tsv1860.de/?id=150&news_id=6888&back_id=56&offset=&limit=) Good article about the game and personnel issues. I think Schoko has his work cut out for him with him starting Burkhardt but Ziegenbein having such good games off the bench. Szukala picked up an injury somewhere and was out for this match...making the defensive effort even more impressive as CZ are a good, solid team.

Mac users: The German translator in the pre-loaded "Sherlock" program is also quite good. Helps me with some of the tougher phrases. Always learning... :)

Also - www.leo.org is the best German - English (and french) online dictionary.

Clicktionary is not a bad tool either if you need German/English help. I normally have to use it going the other way though.:D

This whole "Bet and Win, Bwin, We Win!" thing could get a whole lot more interesting.

The US Congress passed a law to make illegal any U.S. credit card transactions used for offshore web gambling. The big British gambling (not "gaming", please) companies are estimating that half of their customers will now be lost.

I wonder if this affects B-win and their legalization efforts in Germany? I know Oddset has a state monopoly, so I doubt the German goverment would follow suit and ban internet gambling, but these companies are due to lose a lot of customers and cash.
