i am curious to know what other spurs fans think of berbatov after a few oppotunites now of seeing him play

i personally think he looks fantastic

there were a couple of signs against portsmouth that he will make an impact for spurs.

the flick on to to defoe showed great vision and touch and i think he really gave an extra dimension to our attack

once we start getting him some quality service which i think will come about with the return of lennon he will start to find the back of the net regulary

i would really like to see jol play a regular front two so berbatov can develop a understanding with one of our other strikers, personally i would like to see keane and berbatov playing together on a regular basis, berbatov looks like the sort of player that thrives on the runs and understanding of a fellow front man

I like the look of him.

He's got a great control and touch, good in the air and can bring others into play.

I think he's going to be fantastic - he has great touch and vision. Yesterday he looked to be a bit rusty from his injury time, and I think he needs a few more games to get used to the quicker pace of the premiership - but I think before Christmas he's going to turn into a dominant player.

The real deal. Finally. After a decade of Rebrovs, Iversens, Postigas, and Rasiaks... All he needs is a run in the side.

That's roughly what i was going to say, i prefer Berby to Mido. He just needs to get back to full fitness because he wasn't 100% against Portsmouth.

I like him too, good all-round striker and when he gets fully fit again he'll score a lot of goals.

agree - his movement is excellent too. once fully fit he will be one of the top strikers in the league.

to partner him I would go for defoe - he has looked sharp the past few games and if he can get back to the form of a year or so ago then we will have the most dangerous strikeforce around.

He made his presence felt immediately versus Pompey... Murphy's goal wouldn't have happened without him.

As was mentioned earlier... the real deal!

Can't wait to see more from him... some cracking goals to boost the teams confidence are long overdue.

Overall I'm very excited about him. But here's my scouting report.

Good:
He's good with the ball at his feet. He makes excellent runs. He can finish with finesse or power using either foot or his head. He's sneaky in the box and opportunisitc in his finishing. He's not the strongest, but he can hold the ball adequately. He is equally adept at finishing or creating plays. He seems to adapt quickly. He appears to be a natural leader.

Bad:
He's a bit soft. He is often injured. He definitely takes plays off and can appear to be loafing a bit during parts of the game. He isn't slow, but he's no speed demon. A big athletic defender like Rio or Galas can put him in their back pocket and neutralize him if he stays high on the pitch.

Overall:
Great link forward with the natural skill and size to play target forward. He's coachable and gets along well with his teammates. Has leadership potential. Proven success and has infectuous confidence. He's the type of attacker that can galvanize an offense.

I'm really excited about him ... but he has to stay healthy to be the player he's capable of being.

....spot on. His positioning is also great.

If any of you are worrying because of his performance against Pompey, please don't.

He's not match-fit yet and will need games. Give Garcia time.

satisfied?

i didnt even notice that i had added an "s" to the end of hotspur, but thanks to the pedantic nature of grammar nazis i have been corrected.

now lets stop being anal retentive wankers and discuss football as opposed to spelling

....wanker :D , as you will tell from my grammar and general poor spelling if you regularily post, i'm no nazi. But i'm also not a ******** who can't get the ********ing club's name right. As I took your thread off topic, I'll go back to talking about Berbatov. And yes i'm satisfied.

For some bizarre reason I can't actually post what I wanted to do about Berbatov, but in short he looks excellent...good runner, plays off the shoulder of the last defender, can shoot from a variety of distance, including tap ins. As he gets match fitness we'll see him live up to the valuation.

Berby looked a little rusty against Villa. Let's hope he does better midweek.

As has been mentioned on another thread Defoe, however, looks like he's coming into some form and is bound to score soon.

Yeah, but some rust is to be expected after being off for so long. I'm of the mind that players like him need to be played back into fitness. I just don't want him rushed back until he's physically well mind you. But, once he's well, fitness can come through playing games. He's both a target man and a creative player, so even when not on the top of his game he helps the other fowards. I think he is the key to our season.

I'd sure like Mido to regain some of last season's ability. With both misfiring and our two diminuitive forwards in a bit of a slump ... things aren't so easy. I agree that Defoe deserves a run in the first team for a bit.

Expect Garcia to start playing well from Saturday 28th October 2006. I've had groin trouble, and believe me, it takes a good six weeks to recover, even if you are nearing match fitness.
