Problem:

I would like to do the following.
When I am out of my office, I would like to access my Contact Database, I use ACT(I care most about having ACT), so I can view my appointments, see contact info, stuff like that.

on smaller scale, I would like to be able to use the internet, post ads on craiglsist, edit documents in a word processor, and send and receive emails.

And further, if this was my phone that would be great.

Is this out of the question, or is this technology, easily available ?

Do I need a Palm Pilot or a Blackberry, or 2 cups with a long string in between?

laptop with wireless connection, get verizon's broadband service. its like having a cell but its ur laptop instead, and being able to get broadband speed anywhere anytime on ur laptop. if u need to connect to ur main pc at ur biz u could also look on google for those programs that let u run ur computer from another. its called connect to pc, something like that. ;)

I thought of that, and I think thats what I may have to do.

I was hoping to have something less in size, truely portable, like cell phone the palm things, I am just not sure what I really need. I guess I should stop fishing for free advice and hire a pro.

unless........ ;)

The Motorola Q? (http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=113)
Verizon (http://estore.vzwshop.com/q/)
Windows for devices... (http://www.windowsfordevices.com/news/NS8962290785.html)

I'm not sure if it will directly interact with your ACT database but you should be able to expore contacts occasionally then import them into the device.

As a former Verizon employee, I would say call Wireless Data Tech Support (WDTS) before you buy the Q and make sure they can tell you if it does what you want. Be very specific, and if you get somebody that says "I don't know," then call back. My experience is that they are generally very good. If they put you on hold, it is likely they are checking for info. They do have alot of info available to them.

General customer service is 800-922-0204 (if you don't have Verizon).

To get through the prompts, use (area code) 400-0000. That usually works.

Also, check out www.phonescoop.com as they have alot of actually users and employees that post and comment. I use that as my primary source of info before suggesting or buying a phone (and it is the place that made me decide not to risk buying a RAZR).
