just got this from soccer america
BERKELEY, Calif. (July 30) -- SOCCER AMERICA Magazine has
agreed to U.S. national team coach Bruce Arena's proposal of awarding
free subscriptions to the winning team to make the MLS All-Star Game
more competitive.
"It's up to the players," quipped Arena at a recent press
conference when asked how to make the MLS All Star game more
competitive when there's nothing at stake. "Maybe if Soccer America
offers free subscriptions to the winning team, they'll be playing
like it's the biggest game of their lives."
If that's what it takes, so be it. All members of the winning
team will receive one-year subscriptions. However, since most are
long-time subscribers, they can offer the subscription to the school
library of their choice and Soccer America will double it to a
two-year subscription.
The 2002 MLS All-Star game features the U.S. men's national
team against the best of Major League Soccer. The game will be
televised nationally from RFK Stadium on Saturday, August 3, 2002 at
3:30 p.m. (ET), live on ABC.
