The English FA have banned and fined agent Jonathan Barnett for setting up the infamous Ashley Cole / Chelsea meeting last season. Barnett has had his licence revoked for 18 months with nine suspended and fined £100,000 plus costs.
Barnett was the final person to be censured by the FA - with Cole, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and Chelsea FC already dealt with - and his refusal to accept guilt has resulted in the heavy punishment.
Israeli agent Pinhas Zahavi was also involved in the scandal - which involved an illegal meeting between Cole, who was still contracted to Arsenal, representatives from Chelsea and both agents - but is outside the FA and the Premier League's jurisdiction.
Barnett was found guilt of two charges of miscounduct:
1. Misconduct under FAPL Rule E1(e) for procuring the breach of of FAPL Rule K5 by Cole.
2. Misconduct under FAPL Rule E1(d) due to a breach of paragraph IV of the Code of Professional Conduct to the FIFA Players' Agents Regulations in that he failed to respect the rights of a third party, specifically Arsenal FC.
Cole ultimately joined Chelsea in the summer transfer window in a cash-plus-player deal with William Gallas.
