View Full Version : Assuming EVERY single player is perfectly match-fit, who'd be your ONLY 11 players???

This is really, really tough cuz some lads WILL be left out. And some choices are obvious, yes, but some others aren't. I'm curious as to what people would say.
I would like:
In net, Lehmann.
The back four from R2L would be Eboue, Toure, Gallas and Lauren.
The middle four from R2L would be Fabregas, Gilberto, Rosicky and Hleb.
And up top from R2L would be Henry and Van Persie.

Worse comes to worst, we could just lay out 11 empty uniforms and they'd still battle Tottenham to a draw at the Lane.

but realwood, I do like your lineup...but you would pick Clichy over some of the other fellars? How about one of the two Swiss chaps?

If Hleb can stay wide and stop drifting center then I'd would put him ahead of Freddie.
For a variation of Realwood's XI
replace Baptista--->Rosicky and play Walcott on LW
But considering Baptista's qualities it won't happen

Clichy is a great player when healthy and fit, it's just his durability that is keeping him back.
I do not believe Gallas would accept a permanent LB role, I took that into consideration. If I had to choose between Djourou and Senderos, I'd take Djourou but that's just me.

Mine would be exactly the same as Realwood, except I'd bank on an out of position lauren on the left over clichy.
Walcott is too young and inexperienced to get a mention, let alone be anywhere except the subs bench for the next year or so at least.
Van persie doesn't work with Henry, and if we have to drop one, I know which one I will pick. RVP plays better with adebayor, but I'd still take henry over both of them. I'd go so far as to say, RVP has no future here. Not because he isn't good enough, but he conflicts with the player our team is built around.
RVP doesn't play the same role for us as he does for holland, and he ends up being rather ineffective in our general run of play. Henry will be sitting a fair amount of games this season, and rvp will get lots of playing time with both adebayor and baptista, possibly even with walcott. If he doesnt' click with either of them, I'd ship him and adebayor out next summer, and play with henry, baptista, bendtner and 1 new striker.

Considering EVERY player is match fit I would find a place for Tony Adams, DB10, Ray parlour maybe Kanu and a few others in the mix.:p

Found this article, decent read.
Is Thierry fitting into Cesc's team? (http://www.arsenalnewsreview.co.uk/index.php/news/356/42.html)
By signing Galllas and Rosicky, two self-contained competitors, Arsene has added a lot of bottle to his team. Both have been able to put on a red shirt and produce immediately.
.
.
While Thierry has been trying to get fit and sharp, it's become Cesc's team and it now plays a short-passing game which is varied and subtle but lacks the dynamism of yesteryear.
.
.
So that's my point today :much of Arsenal's dynamism came from players who are no longer at the club.
NOW I'M WATCHING it evolve game by game and I'm watching Thierry adapt to playing in Cesc Fabregas's multi-passing team.
.
.
In the future, Henry will still fly away from the defence at times, and slot the sort of goals he has scored for the last six years. But it won't be so often now. He may have to nod in a few more Eboue crosses to keep ahead of Everton hot-shot Andy Johnson.

If Ljungberg isn’t contributing goals, then what is he contributing? (http://www.arsenali.co.uk/2006/09/if-ljungberg-isnt-contributing-goals.html)
With his shock of died red or pink hair, tireless work rate and an acute understanding of how to time a run into the box, perhaps only matched by Scholes, Pires and recently Lampard, Ljungberg became a cult hero. Highbury sang happily along to “We love you Freddy, because you’ve got red hair. We love you Freddy, because you’re always there. We love you Freddy, because you’re Arsenal through and through!!”
Sad but true .. :(

I think it's sad when people don't see the contribution that Freddie still brings to Arsenal.
