Had you put that trophy on a blank scree there aren't 5 Americans here who could tell you what it was.

I've no idea what that thing is, but I have to ask: what's the deal with the exaggerated thing dangling between the guy's legs?

You can keep it.

Americans must not care about sport then :D.

Baseball - 2nd round
Basketball - 3rd place
Haven't won the Davis Cup in yonks.
World Cup - first round
Ryder Cup - haven't won it in ages
America's Cup - nooooope..
Hockey - semifinal
rugby - 56-7 loss to Canada..gag!

********, if anybody else actually PLAYED gridiron they'd probably lose at that too.

That's OK. We still have the biggest win in the history of the rivalry:

Actually we don't, not much anyway when it comes to international sport. Americans just don't get the concept, sadly. Americans will pay attention for a while if a US national team is doing well and if it is on TV (which it usually isn't) but the concept of national teams and year-round international competition simply "does not compute" to your average American sports nut.
********, if anybody else actually PLAYED gridiron they'd probably lose at that too.I'm pretty sure we would annihilate Canada in gridiron, no matter whose rules we used.

But then again, who would care? It would be like the rugby league world cup - yeah, so, if you are one of only two countries capable of winning it (ie, England and Australia), does it really count as a world championship? Should anyone who isn't a rugby league fan care?

Rugby union world cup, of course, is another matter entirely.

Anyway, the point you don't seem to grasp about the USA not doing well in international sports is that, actually, most American fans don't care; they only care about American sports leagues, ie, MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, and don't care about or even understand the concept of their national teams. Our entries for national teams in sports which are major league in this country are decidely half-assed, because the major leagues don't want to be bothered with it; it does not make them any extra money. The major leagues have no concept of representing their country in sport. Consequently our baseball, basketball, and ice hockey national teams are decidely second rate. We don't care and it shows.

MLS cares about our national soccer team, but soccer is nowhere near to being a major league sport in the USA.

Rugby is entirely invisible in the USA and gets absolutely no media or TV coverage and I'll bet that the vast majority of sports journalists in the USA don't even know that the USA has a national rugby team or that the USA has actually been to several of the past IRB World Cups.

Cricket...even more invisible.

National lacrosse team....lots of world championships for the USA, zero media coverage.

Same for any other amateur or non-major league sport in the USA: zero media coverage, no matter how well the team does; partial exception for the Olympics.

Bah, there were only 4 Englishmen on the team, and 2 of those live in America anyway. Interesting also that out of the 6 UK players on the team, 4 of them played college golf in America. Seems like we have to teach the Brits how to do everything. ;)
