Silly question, but I was at a pub today and couldn't get a definite answer.

Is Ashburton Grove still in London's N5? I know it's right next to Highbury, but if you go to ArsenalAmerica's web site and go to the clubs of England map, it reports Arsenal as being in N7.

I was just wondering, it's one of those small things that just bugs me and I can't get it out of my mind.

Any assistance would be....utterly fantastic. Thanks.

BTW: Nice win at the Grove today eh? Couldn't finish during the first half, but boy oh boy did it pick up in the 2nd.

Thanks again!

Emirates Stadium, Highbury House, 75 Drayton Park, London, N5 1BU

So its still N5, but is no longer in Highbury. Though its so on the border it could be ;)

Im still calling it Highbury cos Im beligerant like that, and any varient of "Ashburton Grove" just sounds really wrong. Drayton park has a ring to it though. Hmmmm.

I do remember seeing a construction address of N7 on Arsenal.com so maybe they just made sure when it opened to find an address they could put in N5? anyone know for sure what the story is?

Why does it sound wrong to you? Sounds fine to me.

And if the new stadium isn't in Highbury, calling it "Highbury" sounds less like belligerance and more like a denial of reality. ;)

From another site I use:

They are clever people at Arsenal.

By any reckoning The Emirates Stadium is in N7 (the railway line presumably marks the change).

By putting Highbury House on Drayton Park the club has ensured that it still has an N5 post code...and looking at the site, that is not the most logical location for the administration.

A small but important achievement

Drayton Park does sound nice. Ashburton Grove is a little of a tongue-twister...well, maybe not exactly, but it is kind of awkward to say. It doesn't roll of the tongue like Drayton Park...

Im gonna have to find a map of postcode borders. If even the North Bridge is still in Highbury - well then I win ;)

Drayton Park SOUNDS like a football arena. Ashburton Grove sounds like some dodgy Geordie kids soap opera.

(For those tuning in from the US, there was a dodgy Geordie soap opera called Byker Grove back in the early ninties)

In my mind Drayton Park sounds like a wildlife safari park or possibly the venue for round 23 of the British Touring Car championship

:D

Ive just checked. The border of Highbury and Ahsburton Grove runs straight down the middle of Drayton Park. The North-Eastern most extremity of the Stadium is approximaty 10-15" from still being in Highbury. Ballacks.

We're the Orange Quadrant,
We're the Orange Quadrant,
We're the Orange Quadrant Emirates.

Nice!

How about Mr.8s. As in M R ates. Admittedly Mr8s sounds like a 80s pool hall but everything else is sounding silly. Hmm, maybe I'm over thinking this one a bit...

Must respectfully disagree. Drayton Park sounds like a place where kids play in sprinklers and wave pools.

Ashburton Grove sounds like a proper football ground. The New Home of Football, to be precise.

If you could have found the smallest justification for calling the new ground "Highbury," then I would have been with you.

But since it isn't in Highbury at all, it's either Emirates Stadium or Ashburton Grove.

Come on back, reality isn't as scary as you remember.... ;)
