Has anyone ever done the work to get together an all-time standings table for the 14 MLS teams that have existed?

Here's the real table (1996-2005), counting shootouts as draws:

(BTW, Kenn, if that comes from the MLS media guide, they screwed up by counting shootout wins as three points.)

306 2 DC United 128 110 68 452
306 3 San Jose 115 105 86 431
306 4 Columbus 119 114 73 430

Yes, they did and I just notified Elias of that.

Not only that, the wins and losses don't add up, no matter how you count things.

Other ways of ranking the teams are points/game and success rate (Win = 1, Draw = 0.5, Loss = 0).

Both yield almost the same ranking
Rank Team Games W D L Pts P/G Ave
1 Los Angels 306 145 66 95 501 1.637 0.582
2 Chicago 243 115 47 81 392 1.613 0.570
3 DC United 306 128 68 110 452 1.477 0.529
4 San Jose 306 115 86 105 431 1.408 0.516
5 Columbus 306 119 73 114 430 1.405 0.508
6 Kansas City 307 114 79 114 421 1.371 0.500
7 Dallas 306 117 64 125 415 1.356 0.487
8 Tampa Bay 187 73 33 81 252 1.348 0.479
9 Miami 122 46 24 52 162 1.328 0.475
10 Colorado 306 114 64 128 406 1.327 0.477
11 New York 306 114 55 137 397 1.297 0.462
12 New England 307 105 74 128 389 1.267 0.463
13 Real Salt Lake 32 5 5 22 20 0.625 0.234
14 Chivas USA 32 4 6 22 18 0.563 0.219Ranking by success rate (Ave.) Colorado moves ahead of Miami into 9th and New England passes New York for 11th.

Anyone knows way KC & NE have an extra game?

September 11th cancellations gave some teams fewer games, so it looks like some have more.

yeah noticed that too. I made the PSO wins and losses as draws but i am not 100% sure if i got it all right as i have added the 2006 season on top of it...

For records up to 2007, look here: USA - MLS All-Time Table (since 1996) (http://www.rsssf.com/tablesu/usaalltime.html). Playoffs are kept tracked too, note that SOWs were included as wins, per official stand.

For a feel of how the all-time records has evolved since the league began, check this out: All-time MLS Tables thru 2007 (Reg. Season only, SOs != TIEs, sorted by PPG) (http://the-world-of-unofficial-champs.blogspot.com/2007/11/all-time-mls-table-thru-2007-sorted-by.html).

An alternative version (which considered SOWs as ties) is located at: History of the MLS All Time Table (Plus Current Edition) (http://usasoccer.blogspot.com/2007/11/history-of-mls-all-time-table-plus.html).

Updates for 2008 shall be out soon, when the regular season concludes.
