I feel for those young lads who played with heart and fought bravely against one of the most decorated sides in Europe. What I saw in them was not naivete, but deep sincerity and they have everything to be proud of themselves.
Oh, the beauty of youth..

Precisely you're forgetting Monaco ;)
I've seen that since 1982 Monaco spent only 8 years without being on the top 3 of the League. They're a historical big club since the 70's (and the great Delio Onnis) and if they had'nt mistaken in 2004 selling their players for buying a tête de lard (Kallon) and a permanently injured (Chevanton) they would be much stronger now.
Monaco of seven years ago was truly a great team. But what I meant was right now, and unfortunately, I can't see Monaco breaking the top three anytime soon. Selling their key players really hurt them, but they didn't have much choice. They don't have the income or the suave management to make the smart purchases. They'll have to pull a Lille and rely on lucky finds and youth development.
Anyway, this is the reason I am SO SO SO thankful for Aulas. He will never let that happen to Lyon. :)

It's written so isn't it libel? You know we French, always looking for the technicalities:rolleyes:
The most recent comments on your boards about baguettes and berets and such are very cute and classy. I just don't understand why it always has to come back to that. I think Lille should just accept the result and move on but why on earth people feel compelled to make these small, stereotypical statement is something I just don't understand.
Perhaps you should check your English dictionary. Given the various comments made by Lille and French (there I said it!) fans on our board, which is still continuing, the reaction from a small minority is hardly surprising. However, you haven't seen anyone complain about the English comments that were made. Even when they are directed towards other nationalities. I think both Lille and yourself should move on, as we are not going to get anywhere with posts like these. Hopefully Lille learn to shut up and let UEFA do their job. We have much more important things to worry about than their constant whining and accusations.

Perhaps you should check your English dictionary.
Libel--defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures.
Slander--defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing, pictures, etc.
What is my small, Frenchy mind missing? Libel is written, slander is spoken. Perhaps we have different dictionaries.

Your last bit is not even a complete sentence so I don't know what to make of it. As far as comments against the English here I've not seen anything resembling what I've seen about the French. I've yet to see one crack about bad food, poor teeth, or anything of the like. I didn't realize the voicing an opinion on a "foreign" forum entitled the regulars to such remarks but I'll remember it for future reference.

Gee, TDB, I'd never thought of that, thanks for the advice.

I stated 'slanderous', which has a common usage. Even if you wish to use the definition of the two words in law you will find that they only have specific meaning in common law. The definition today is less clear which is why most stick with the all-encompassing defamatory.

Fulham were excellent against us. They had an appeal for a penalty turned down only for Ronaldo to score the winner for us shortly after in the 88th minute.
I'm surprised they didn't walk off :D :p

Comments like that are what caused all of the bitching in the first place. I assume you are not trying to be racist with that phrase? :p

I think Lille lost last year against Troyes.
Although they're stronger year after year, Lille use to leave many points against the supposed weakest teams.

I used to think Troyes was easy until they gave us a footballing lesson a few weeks ago.
Good luck, Lille.
