Not that anyone is watching this match, but wow, was that first PK call a bad call.

*EDIT*: OK I stopped watching this about 30 min in....I couldn't take any more of the game.

Didn't think it was that bad, although Wambach sold it pretty heavily. But the Mexican defender did foul her, coming from behind/the side, and didn't get the ball. (I was watching too--it was the only soccer game I could get on the TV where I was travelling.)

I just didn't see the contact. It looked like the defender came in, was running next to her and kinda grabbing at the arm, and then Wambach fell to the earth. Perhaps it is my deep dislike of Wambach that made me think it was such a bad call :).

Totally concur.

It was funny as I was watching the game, I had just thought to myself 'I really like watching the women play because there's no diving bs like in the men's game'.....then the Wambach incident happened. I do think there was contact, so I won't say that Wambach took a dive, but she sure did go down easily.

I was sitting down at the end near the Penalty area where this happened. During live play, we all started cheering at the call as we thought it was a foul.

Then upon seeing the TV board we started booing Wambach, taking dives like that is dishonorable.

Then we had dinner with the refs, but I didn't bring that up to them. :o

Should have....I would have been curious as to know what they thought they saw. Were you the only group booing Wambach after the replay? She had apparently been watching too much WC2006 in her free time.

Well, the post-post game the AR2 and 4th came over to my place. They said they talked about it after the game, but the ref felt confident about it. (Incidentally, I just moved back to Rochester for Grad school.)

Wambach is from Rochester... sooo you never know.

Anyway, there were some other small groups that you could hear booing, but for the most part all the people were happy, especially some of the Wambach loving laddies there.
