Was anyone else in the firt very annoyed with the drummer against the bulls? This guy, the one with the big revolution drum, was pretty bad. I'm not sure if it was just us because we were right behind him or if the rest of the fort was bothered by it.
So the guy was just banging on the drum most of the match, which in my opinion is great. However, he was drumming against the rythme of the chants and songs. I couldnt tell if he was just trying to be obnoxious or if he was just in his own world. Did anyone else notice this? I havnt been in the fort since the World Cup but i dont remember him being so bad before.
So if this guy reads this forum, please give him some advice.
Drum with the chants/songs etc.

I wasn't going to weigh in on this topic on the boards since intent is not always clearly communicated in this medium, but since someone started the thread I'll respond.
If we are talking about the same individual, it is the same man who has been coming since the first season with the very large drum who sets up near the back of the fort. I'm usually in front of him, but this game was just a row or two behind him. He spent the entire game pounding out a steady beat with no real attempt to join in the rhythms of the chants. While the constant drumming is a plus, it was truly counter-productive to chanting. I could see Ed in particular turning around at the beginning of chants, but I had no idea what chant was starting as I couldn't hear a thing.
Since this is not a new situation, I imagine that it has been discussed before; probably in person at a tailgate, which is the better place for it.

yeah I heard the constant beat and the lack of hearing happened up front as we could not/barely hear any chants or songs started by Rev Army or anyone who was up a few rows...we can attempt to fix this wed and coordinate on it a bit more since at one point (one of the corner kicks in the second half) I heard three songs going at once.

Nothing new, we have been dealing with this for quite a few years. It is just random drumming and evrytime you tell him he laughs and keeps going

That man has been a steady supporter since before most of you EVER set foot at a Revs game. At one time he was the only regular drummer in the fort. None of you can really play except for Kevin, so you have NO business commenting on anyone else. He's there to support the team and have a good time however I talked to him after the match and he says he's not coming back because of the way he was treated. He wouldn't say who said or did what but to lose him is a terrible thing and I think it's time you all tryto remember that we're there to support the Revolution not our own little kingdom.

May I suggest that someone bring a cowbell?
BTW: I sat in Section 110 Saturday night, and the Fort was chanting beautifully just before the start of the match, but it was all but drowned out by the idiotic rock music that blares out until the instant the game begins. Now I'm a fan of rock and roll. but can't we have some silence while the Fort "revs" up the fans?

Good God, man. What's next? Fanzines being sold in the parking lot? ;)

I was two rows in front of him, and I could still hear people yelling at him (over his and my drum). Particularly, some wimpy children/Teens kind of yelled some shit at him after the game as they filed out of the row.
The final answer is always the same: If you don't like it, move. I know four people promptly left my row when I started to bang my drum. But what can you do?
I was directly in front of this guy, I'm sorry to hear this news too. He tends to drum all the time, and occasionally start the "Go Revs" chant. This is the first time in a while I have actually noticed that he wasn't changing rhythm to go along with any of the chants. However, it is true that he has been going to these games before most of us were cut from our high school teams.
We need this type of fan:
makes noise all game
comes to most games
goes on roadtrips (NY)
I love the drummers, and definitely believe in "the more, the merrier". I hope he comes back. If anyone knows him personally, please reach out and let him know that some of us want him there.
I do love listening to the drum section on TV at RSL, maybe we are moving in that direction?

Glad you cleaned this up, slight overreation was on tap.
I think the point from keepersdad is, please don't hate on the Fort regulars who have been supporting this team, either this year or for eleven years.
People complain about those who turn around to lead chants, off beat drummers, cowbells, not wearing blue, wearing Earthquakes jerseys, etc. Make noise, support the team as you wish, chant, drum, jump up and down. Who cares, just support.
Maybe this guy doesn't know which song to drum. He has Rev Army behind him, Riders in Front, two different chants going, maybe that's it, or maybe he's going to the wall of sound approach.

For the record, I was right behind him but did not say anything, there were several people, who I believed to be Rev Army, near me yelling at him late in the game. That is probably the incident that got him upset.
As I meant to say in the original post, it is great that he supports the team and brings a drum. Also I have seen him many times before but was never really bothered by it as I never sat so close to him. If this guy reads this board, keep supporting the team, its great that your there and having another drummer is great, but just try to coordinate with the section a little better.
Thanks.

I have no doubt that this guy (and I'm pretty sure I know who he is) is a die hard. And if he does leave his drum will be missed. However, it doesn't take much of an effort to get in tune with the rest of the fort. It's nice during the times where no chants are being chanted to hear that drum but to just keep going is not cool. Him doing that is seperating himself from the rest of the fort, and I know we don't want that. We want him in the Fort.

Ok I just want to re-state this. I read my original post and it does come off a little harsh I believe, and I shouldnt have used such a negative tone. So I apologize. I love the sound of that drum and hope the guy keeps coming, but I hope he can go along with the chants a little better.

I don't believe this to be accurate. If you can let me know who you "believe" this was I will sort them out. If you don't want to post it send me an email at thomastheterrible@gmail.com. If you can't identify him to me please don't make accusations.
We (and I personally) have given "the drummer" a hard time (in good fun) many times, even taking his drum sticks away and playing his drum and he's always been very friendly, fun loving and a good sport about it. The guy is a straight up good guy; for someone to talk sh!t on him is embarrassing.
What he lacks in drum soloing he makes up for in passion for the Revs; if only that could be true for all of 143.
