fort knox stayed up the whole game. but 137 was blown out of the water, we certainly tried to join in and sometimes start the "piss on the fire" chant, but they were killing us...

Yes, yes they were. I had to work today and didn't get to the game until about 5 minutes in. I could hear the f*re fans when I pulled into the stadium. I couldn't hear the North End until I got to about section 134. I'm sick of this shit.
I'm glad to hear that you didn't crumble under the threat of some shitcago fans stealing your banner, though. Good work. It must have taken nerves of steel.

well it would take some balls to take the fort knox banner considering it isright in front of us....is that what the fire fans were trying to do? I looked up and seen a few of their fans standing behind the army....as said before if we understand the chant we always try to join in....

Basically we were all left out to dry by the CSC staff and Columbus Police until someone told security that one of our banners (St. Dunc I think) had been stolen by Fire fans. I'm so happy that the the staff there felt it was necessary to step in...after the fact. I think that we need to discuss this with the Front Office and we also need to get into contact with Peter Wilt, because this is unacceptable. If I'm not mistaken, this is the second year in a row that this has happened. Fire fans come over to 137...unprovoked, stand in our section, and steal our banners. Yeah, real classy.
I have to agree with HardestWorkingFan that it's so sad to see Chicago fans literally march in and outnumber all of us. I'm tired of it as well. It seems like no one, apart from the 'core of 137' and a few others, wants to stand for 90 minutes and be part of the game. I really don't know what to say. That's just the straight up facts.
I do however, applaud everyone in 137 for their effort tonight and keeping their cool when the Fire fans came into our section. I honestly feel that things could really have gotten out of hand. But again, well done for everyone who was there!

I'd go, but being in high school and all, it's a bit expensive for me. It also coincides with our homecoming dance. It's my Senior year, so I really can't miss that.
I really do hope that we have a decent number (over 20) who do end up going to Chicago, even if we're mathematically eliminated by then.

The problem is that Chicago is a much larger city than Columbus, full of these scummy human trafficking victims that end up on the docks of the Winfrey City from some beautiful rebar & crumbling concrete sh!thole in post-communist suburban Gdansk. They think they can all thug-out like a bunch of hoolies and act all tough, because that's what it's all about, apparently, being a hard-ass that only cares about starting static... not that game on the field.
Legion, getting in contact with Peter Wilt ain't gonna do a goddamn thing. He was at the game tonight, according to his own post. He isn't going to, nor can he, police that mob of subterra denizens. He has no authority.
I can only imagine that for those that go to the fire hydrant in October, they will be subject to more classless behavior and provocation from the pseudo-firm of MLS.

Wilt isn't there any more. He was replaced by John Guppy, who came to them from the team formerly known as the Metros.
There used to be a security guy with his back to the goal, standing on the grass in front of 137. Every game. Why hasn't he been there recently? I'd also like to know where our security was pregame. At least we had Scott Debolt tell them to go back to their section at halftime. I still think they can do it a bit differently. Post security around their section..they have no business going outside their section, or the stairs up to the bathroom.
OSU kills 137. Last week, they started at 3:30 and we started at 7:30. This week, a few v-army/osu students went to Austin.
As for their "fans", it happens every game, just like clockwork. They enter the stadium with 100 fans, a few of them get kicked out during the game, and a few of them use our tax money and spend the night downtown.

When you put time and effort into making a banner then you can decide whether you want it up for the 5 fire fans who have gathered around to steal it. Until then STFU. I have as much pride in the Crew than anyone one else here so you really have no ********ing idea what you're talking about.
I made the decision that I'd rather have the banners up for the rest of the games this year and into next year than make it a nice present for the traveling polish mafia. To say that I don't have any pride is such a chicken shit thing to say.

Anywho, I'd just like to fully endorse Zip's entire post.

Okay, I was kind of drunk and fired up when I started this thread and I sincerely apologize for saying that you lack pride. That was stupid.
However, I still don't think we should have let them bully us into taking down the banners in our own stadium. I know they're not mine and since they're all yours you can do whatever you want with them, but I would have stood guard over one of them if I knew you were going to take them down.
<insert comments about Crew Union>
<insert comments about what it is exactly that the FO does for supporters groups>
Since the other thread has been locked...I'll make two final points....
1. To the Fire fans that are reading this, and we know you are....Your reputation doesn't make you the best fans in MLS, it makes you the worst. You can continue to believe your own ego fed dillusions, but the fact remains you're known more for anti-social behavior than fervent support for your own team. That's the facts in every MLS city except Chicago, it's indesputable.
2. The Columbus Crew FO is going to have to bear some responsibility at some point for things that are inevitably going to happen. A serious incident hasn't happened yet. But that's the imperative thing to keep in mind...It hasn't happened yet. It's only a matter of time. Columbus Crew know that these things go on, and yet six years later the same questions remain yet to be answered, and the same problems continue to occur. In fact, I'd say the severity of the problems are increasing in nature.

I agree with that post 100%.
It really is only a matter of time, from my vantage point, (which was just a few rows below, right in the middle of the Northenders) the Fire fans coming into 137 and Chelsey going up there to confront them, it escalated quickly. If Clem wouldn't have gone up there, that thing could have gotten out of control.
We shouldn't have to put up with this sh**. If security would have been there, our banner wouldn't have been stolen and we wouldn't have had to confront Fire fans in our own section. WE SHOULD NEVER BE FORCED TO TAKE DOWN OUR OWN BANNERS AT HOME GAME BECAUSE SECURITY IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB.
If the CFO doesn't do anything, next year will be a wake-up call for them. I think it's safe to say that if one person had made one wrong move, that this would have turned into a fight. Next year, that could be a reality.
Chicago fans need to learn where their section is, clearly they have difficulty finding it.

OK... apparently I wasn't armed with all the necessary knowledge when I posted in the other thread to defend the Fire fans. I don't think they meant any harm with the moment of silence thing, but I hadn't heard anything about the other stuff that took place. The one comment I read up to that point about the Fire fans coming over to 137 was one that I THOUGHT referenced things that had happened in the past. That's partially my fault, I guess.
But since I've gotten blasted by a couple of friends in response, and gotten a couple s***ty PM's on the subject... any chance somebody could actually DESCRIBE the events about the banner-theft and Chelsey getting thrown out instead of just passively referencing them?

Agreed with both points.
I wrote in another post that there used to be a security presence between the goal and section 137 every game. Someone was there from before kickoff until after the section cleared out after the game.
Saturday night during the pregame incident, I looked around and there was no one. No CSC, no CPD, no CCS event staff. Where were they?
Increasing in nature? Last night was relatively tame considering two events I remember involving Fire fans. Walking around the stadium? I can deal with that...i'd do the same thing in another stadium. Coming into our section for any reason? They have no business there.
I would not be surprised if a few of them travel with the sole intent of starting crap just to get kicked out of the stadium, or arrested, etc.

Or for the sole purpose of stealing our stuff...
And as for my "escorting out". I was. But it was after the match, and into the OSU game. It really wasn't that big of a deal.. If you can call getting kicked out of the stadium, not a "big" deal.
Basically, in a nutshell, after the match I was discussing the issue about the banner with a BS Crew poster. He mentioned some Bailey-scarf incident from years ago, and said he was royally pissed they had something of our colors. So, I thought about taking something of their colors.
And I did. I was rightfully kicked out. I mean I took the chick's scarf right in front of at least a couple security/stadium personale. It seemed right in the heat of the moment. I mean, she had called me a liar, and said I made up that they stole a banner.(really smart people they have..REALLY) And she then went on to say something about waving dollar bills for me.
So that's when I ripped that ********ing scarf right off her. What got me is she wanted to fight it out, outside the stadium. But ********, I'm not a complete idiot. I mean, hell, I have done some stupid things. But fighting, outside of the stadium, where a sh!t load of police are just waiting for that type of crap? No thank you. Like I said in the other thread, I have a future to think about. Maybe that GED chick doesn't, but I do.
I still think, that perhaps in the heat of the moment, I would have fought her. I'm not a big proponent for fighting, but with the all the rage I had inside of me, and the fact that she was scrawny and short.. I'm not going to lie, it passed through my mind. I wasn't about to rip a scarf off some big guy, now was I? No. You have to think logically at some point, I suppose. If one can even think logically with all that passion and rage brimming to the surface.
I'm not going to apologize. But I'm not going to say I did the right thing, either. And I am a bit remorseful that I happened to sink to their level. I'll say my extra Hail Marys tonight and think about what I have done, that's for damn sure.
But at the time, it's what I did. No more, no less.
In the end, I thank my lucky stars I didn't touch a drop of alcohol yesterday.
