I haven't finished the Clash book yet. But my day's so dull that grabbing the 500th post on this thread will be the highlight.
Irvine Welsh rocks.

I'm almost done with Football Against the Enemy. I didn't expect it to be so much fun. BTW, if you enjoyed this, you'll probably like the History of Football DVD set.
What shall I read next? I have a Hirohito biography and Hitler's Pope that are both half done, but I'm really in a fiction mood. Kavalier and Clay, perhaps?

Finished Football Against The Enemy today. It's a little uneven at times but I enjoyed it a lot.
I'll start Kavalier & Clay tomorrow.

That would be Jimmy Burns. He also wrote Barça: A People's Passion. Read 'em both, liked 'em both.
I'm almost finished with the new Kuper book, but I've been distracted by the NCAA Tournament.

I have three books on the night stand ready to go:
- Public Intellectuals: A look at how educated people can try to force their way back into a society that treasures cable-news pundits
- What Liberal Media?: Just a way of supporting my theory that my profession is doomed.
- Some sort of Elizabethan social history that I haven't opened yet.
But of course, when I got back from England, I started reading Bill Bryson's Notes From A Small Island for the third time. It's too funny.

Let us know how that is; I was looking for it at the library this weekend, but had no luck.

i am currently reading "strong motion" by jonathon frazen (the guy who didn't want his most recent book on the oprah list).
i really liked his book from years ago called 27th city, i haven't read the one "the corrections" that has gotten all the publicity.

i really liked his book from years ago called 27th city, i haven't read the one "the corrections" that has gotten all the publicity. I didn't enjoy the Twenty Seventh City that much. I had read Corrections before and I enjoyed the meandering and seemingly ADD'd narrative a lot, but it was a let down for me.
I recommend reading Corrections if you like his style though.
