does anyone know the number at which the club caps it's memberships?
here's what i'm getting at:
i'm going to be in london in early november, and intend to attend the chelsea match at the lane. a friend of mine decided to come along on the trip, so i told him that he should get a membership if he wants to be able to get into this particular match (not to mention the fabulous keyring!). well, upon going to the website, it appears that - due to extraordinary demand - membership for the '06-'07 season is already closed!
obviously, my original thought was that this match would sell out before it got to the 9th day of 'members only' sales (the date at which i can get a 'guest ticket'). but since (to my surprise) the number of m'ships is limited, perhaps it will not sell out by the 9th day. anyone know how many members there are? or more to the point, if it's even remotely possible that tickets might still be available after 8 days of 'members only' sales.
also, if anyone has any other ideas as to how he might aquire a ticket for this one, any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

I will be in London in December and I was wondering when the tickets for the Boro match on December 5th will go on sale, and what is the best way for a non-member to buy tickets in advance? Thanks.

Middlesbrough tickets go on sale for non members on November 9th. The best way is either to call the ticket office or if your comfortable getting tickets from the internet you could use the Tottenham website.

Closing the membership is unprecedented and has only happened this year because the demand was insane. they obviously realised that if members were going to see any benefit at all from their fee, they'd have to close it down.
unfortunately, the chances of chelsea going to the ninth day are slim to none, and slim just left town. you'll be looking at touts, agencies etc for that one, and the prices will be huge. second most popular game of the season...

one more question. is it inevitable that the club will require to see a membership card at the turnstyles for the chelsea match? i've been to matches where showing it wasn't required, but i've also had to show it on occasion to get in, as well.
i'm thinking i might be able to purchase a ticket for my pal on the membership number of an american member who won't be over for that match. purchasing on his m'ship would increase his number of loyalty points, so i'm thinking he might go along. that said, i don't know that he'd be willing to give up his card, itself, to someone he hardly knows for a trip across the pond; and, frankly, i wouldn't blame him if he wouldn't. but the last thing i want to do is have my friend spring for a ticket only to get turned away at the gates.

if i remember rightly, when i used to be a member they never actually asked to see the card / membership book. you just needed the ticket - turnstiles too much of a madhouse to be dicking around asking everyone for the correct paperwork. but i traded up to a season ticket in 2000 so that was a long time ago and they might be stricter now. i'd say it would be ok to just have the ticket, but i wouldn't want to guarantee it will be ok and have your mate turned away, especially since chelsea is a premium fixture and you need a second mortgage to afford a ticket for those nowadays.for peace of mind i'd try and get the card too...
cheers, joe.

Not to be an echo, but I am going to be in London for the Spurs-West Ham game - I realize tix go on sale at the end of September, but
1) How tough will getting two tickets together be?
2) Assuming we do the business with Prague this week, we would have a UEFA Cup game the Thursday before. Would the WH game be moved to Sunday?

Tickets will be hard to get but not impossible if your a member, you could get tickets from a tout outside the ground but they will charge two maybe even three times what the tickets original price were.
The game will be moved to the Sunday if we have UEFA Cup on the Thursday.

two tickets together won't happen - unless someone knows a way about it that i don't. in fact, two tickets won't happen, as this one won't get close to the guest onsale date. i did west ham at the lane last year, and when i went online to get my ticket, the only thing i could get was a 70pound seat in the west stand. i am a member, and this was literally only a few hours after the ticket office opened! if you're not a member, i can't see it. if you are a member, get up early (the ticket office opens at 4:30am eastern time). if it's anything like last year, you won't have long.

Cheers, not a member so it does seem like a longshot, and being in the central time zone, waking up at 3:30am is another problem. I don't want to think about how much scalper would cost me with the exchange rate, being what it is. For that price, I could watch half of their games live on Setanta and FSC all season from my living room.

well, we're five days through membership sales for west ham, and (unlike last year) there are still many dozens of tickets remaining. many of them are restricted views, but quite a few are not. i still doubt that any will be available by the general sale date (28th), but i thought they'd all be long gone by now, so maybe it's worth keeping an eye on, after all.
and the 3:30am part isn't all that bad. just leave the ticket office phone number, the phone, and your credit card on the nightstand, and set your alarm for 3:30. when it goes off, take five seconds to clear your head, then dial the number. the process will take only a few minutes, after which you're straight back off to your engagement with somnus. nothing to it.

so i set my alarm for 4:30am (when the ticket office opens) to get a ticket for chelsea at the lane. online and at the site by 4:35, and there's literally only 3 tickets to be had in the entire sout stand. now there are two.
park lane end for chelsea - sweet.
back to bed now. coys.

You deserve them for getting up at that time.

WTF?!!
i get up at 4:30 to get a ticket for the club brugge cup match, and the website won't let me buy for that match. it's selling for the dinamo bucharest match, but it won't let you click on the brugge match. both went onsale at 4:30. then, to make it worse, every time i phone the ticket office (not a cheap call from indiana), they take me through an automated menu only to finish up with "all lines are busy at the moment, please try again later".
if they're selling brugge tickets at a rate anything similar to dinamo tickets (the sales of which can be monitored online), the park lane end will be sold out before long. they've priced it as an 'A' match, so i'm going to be stuck with a damned $110 ticket in the east stand behind a huge white pole.
dammit!

can't guarantee it, of course, but at this point, i'd say the odds are very, very good - and (as one can see) i'm pretty damned conservative about such things. pompey and fulham both went to the general public for many days. i think west ham may have gone, too, though not for long. hell, chelsea's going to go to the 9th day, at least - though i don't know if it'll get to the tenth.
if wigan doesn't go to the public, it'll be at odds with every other non-A match since the opener.
