I'm thinking about playing in the summer 7v7 Silverbacks park league this upcoming summer.
I was just wondering what peoples opinions on the different leagues are.

I play ADASL....its pretty good and I enjoy it. Things are starting soon though so if you're interested in playing, you might want to start contacting managers soon.

What division/team do you play for?
I'm only 18 so I'm thinking about maybe playing next season.

I play in the 5th men's division at the silverbacks park. It is great, I absolutely love it. The fall season has already started though, so it may be hard to find a team with an open slot before the winter season.

I play for Wings. We are finalizing our roster now and I'm sure most other teams are as well. Usually the lower divison teams have more open spots later in the season. Try emailing some of the managers.

I'd play, if there was a five a side league on the west side of town. I'm too old, and have too much to do, to be gallavanting (sp?) all over town to run around a soccer field for nearly two hours (but I tip my hat to those of you who do :) ). Five a side has overtaken eleven a side in England in popularity, according to an article on the FA website a while back, and could easily be to soccer over here what softball is to baseball.

I play Division 4 Coed at Silverbacks Park. Not very good, but our next game is against the team made up of people from the Silverbacks office, so it's a big one.

I prefer 7v7 with the normal sized goals and a small field.

Although I play forward, I must disagree with this. It's easy for teams to run up the score and many times, the goalkeeper position is obsolete with such a big goal and a small field. I've seen goalkeepers score at Silverbacks Park.

That and the no offsides rule really bothers defenders like myself. :( I can play a stellar game, but if players are netting shots from almost half field what am I supposed to do? My biggest beef with it is that, because there are so few players, my fellow defenders like to move up and asist with the attack, which usually leaves me 2 on 1 defending the counter attack. (but that is actually a team problem, not a league problem)

where is the 5 per side league? Is it a futsal league where you play on a field about the size of a basketball court? I would love to get in on that if possible.

I am fielding a team in the 7v7 Silverbacks park mens league this summer.
What are the levels like? We are all going to be 18-20 fit guys that have all played at a decent level throughout HS. What division would you suggest I enter?

There is none that I know of. I gave ten years of my life trying (evidently not hard enough) to get futsal going in this state, and when I left it I didn't look back. I'd rather play the traditional five a side. It's more portable (you can play indoors or out), and you don't have to have special balls and goals (2m x 3m goals and an "almost" size 4, low bounce ball, as opposed to 6'-6.5' x 12' goals and a regular size 4 or 5 ball for five a side,) to play. Don't get me wrong; futsal's a good game, and it's really exciting to watch (it's not a basktball-sized court any more; more like team handball, which is one reason it hasn't caught on in the US), but there's not enough indoor space to get any leagues going (it's played mostly in gyms, and good luck getting gym time with the 20 million basketball leagues around (not complaining, just stating fact). You can play the traditional five a side just about anywhere (we play five a side in our activities center (gym :D) at church on Friday nights, but it's just pick-up).

I think most of the teams in my league have either played before or have learned as we have, that you can't do this. I find myself staying upfield on the other team's attack with 2 defenders from the other team.

it's been a while since I've played and I'm terribly out of shape but i'm thinking of playing indoor this winter at the soccer center in fayetteville. I love the indoor game especially being able to run off the field for a rest whenever I need it which is often!

I'm the same way -- I've been here for two years, and I need to get playing again. I'm in Dunwoody, and looking for indoor and outdoor leagues -- indoor, for now, since it is too late for a fall team. We had a great adult league in DC, and we even got to play on the Mall :) And since I've hit 31, I'm eligible for the over-30 leagues, if they have them here, too :)
