In the interest of talking about something else...
There seem to be untold number of factors that would lead me to expect a loss in this one:
- The bad form and general unprepared look they've been showing
- The lingering attitude problems of underpaid or not-transferred team members
- The fact that this could be characterized as a "must win" which usually means the REVs tank.
- The fact that RBNY has only won once under BA and is due for a win.
But, I think in this situation the typical REV script calls for them to pull out a win or at least a tie, even playing relatively well while they do it. It is just about time for one (but only one) relatively good performance just to muddy the waters a bit and fuel those with positive opinions of the overall roster, the head coach and the front office.
REVS 2-1 leading to a wildly optimistic DC pre-game thread that will be full of predictions that we will crush them. Sadly, that will prove to be untrue.

Chicago are the hottest team in MLS right now probably, with NY coming right behind them, so it's not going to be easy to get a spot in the playoffs. If we can manage a 1-1 draw I'll be content

Won't we all, hopefully they'll make a stadium announcement or something to give us something to cling on to for hope

It doesn't deserve a thread of its own but I wanted to put it somewhere.
Here is my first Revs related post on my new blog. Not much more than a doom-and-gloom rant, but I got to vent a bit and put things together. Feel free to comment here or there.

If there is one thing I've learned the past few games it's that watching sober is even worse. Next saturday I won't bring any kids and I won't be driving. I'm going to enjoy this game no matter how many beers it takes.

I think it's time to bust out the 99 Bananas. When you black out you can't remember how bad the game was. :)

I think we'll win because I'll be there.
I think we found out at the home Crew game two weeks ago the key to the Revs winning is my attendance, as we won for the first time since we played in Chicago, not-at-all-coincidentally the last time I had been present at a Revs game. Then I couldn't make the trip to Columbus, and look what happened.

Sims suffered a pretty bad injury (to his ribs) during the reserve game so I doubt he'll be ready.
Twellman - Dempsey
Ralston - Cancela - Dorman
Joseph - Larentowicz
Riley - Parkhurst - Heaps

I love this fact...the only time we did lose while you were in attendence was the opener and i think we can blame that on the team or the sun or the fact that it was a sunday

This is Twellman's first game against Da Bruce. Hopefully the pain of being left off the World Cup squad will outweigh the pain of his current contract, and he will break out with a hat trick....

yes, as long as the ball is exactly to his enormous head and he doesnt have to hustle or make any runs...as long as our wonderful wingers serve him crosses on a silver platter and as long as we play nothing like we did Saturday
then we awake from this dream and have a good time in the parking lot drinking our pain away

Which Rev team will show up?
This group has shown the ability to be a solid contender about 10-15% of the season and the remainder of the time has played subpar soccer. Based on the above I agree with the general negative tone of many posters. I would not be shocked if they lost big--or-- won big. They are clearly able to play well but have rarely done so.
BUT----
Say what you want about the painful way the Revs have played for much of this season, with the league structure and playoff system being what it is, any team can get hot at the end of the season and win the Cup. This seasons Revs have clearly underachieved and the way they have struggled scoring goals this year no one would predict this years Revs will break out and sweep to glory. But thats why they play the games and all our conjecture about what will happen is just that---opinion and conjecture.
Coach Nicol has gotten his players to finish strong before and some of those rosters IMO were not as potent as the current Rev roster. Why this team tha seemed tot hold such promise has played so flat this year is unclear but as a committed Rev fan I will continue to yell my head off and hope for the best.

This game marks the 2 month point since the Revs scored more than 1 goal in a game. 2 months. 1 goal. The question is how many goals do we give up. If we allow two goals, we are likely to lose. With a rested SJ playing, we may not allow more than one. Juicy intangible: Who wants to punish Arena more than TT?
Who's up for a pool in which we predict the number of minutes until Brad Feldman makes a Revs:wounded animal analogy?

poor brad, he's on revs payroll, he probably can't say what he wants to say. his peices are overly optimistic pieces of fluff, so is his commentary.
I'm sure he doesn't believe what he says.
at least I hope not:eek:
