This match will be right on the heels of our match vs St Pauli for the DFB Cup, the next few weeks will be packed with a ton of action. It should be an interesting match that Bayern should win, but Spartak has been playing for quite a while now where Bayern is trying to get into form since our season didn't start too long ago. Podolski looked solid vs Ireland in the EURO qualifier even tho his goal was a richochet.

sidenote: the croc hunter died by being stung by a ray while diving of the north coast of australia. i thought the guy was invincible, apparently sadly he is not

We're playing at home in the first match. And we're strong at the Allianz Arena. Spartak Moscow have never been there, and it will have a nice impact on them. I think we'll win comfortably.

the pitch is going to be frozen!?!?!

Frozen is an understatement ;)
It will be under terrible conditions over there.

But, put it this way, at least we get to start on a strong footing.

Well...theres always ice skates when we travel to Moscow.....

The home game is an absolute must win game though as the other teams are stronger.

Seeing as we are in a pretty difficult and evenly matched group and this being a home game, three points are absolutley crucial and pretty much neccessary. We can't afford to tie or lose this game. The team isn't exactly going into this game in best form, with so many players just returning from NT duty and playing below their standards it is going to be very tough but I think it can be done given the right tactics and the right players on the field.

-----------Kahn---------

Sagnol-VB--Lucio---Lahm-

-----Micho--MvB----

Hargreaves------Schweiny-

-----Makaay---Poldi----

I don't like the idea of Hargreaves playing wide but Micho was excellent in last seasons CL campaign and MvB was brought in for some European experience so they'll start. Hargreaves and Poldi are a no brainer, they are two of the more in form players in the team along with Schweiny, Sagnol and Lahm. I think the youngsters can be the key to success this season.

I have given up hope of seeing Makaay + Poldi on the pitch at the same time. Magath is a clown plain and simple.

I swear if Magath starts Roque in this game and decides to bench Poldi, I'm gonna be pissed.

i hope he doesnt. he really cant dare to bench poldi now, especially not after the great week he had with 6 goals in 3 matches (although one of them was san marino:rolleyes: so we shouldnt overestimate him now). but more important was the match against st. pauli, and poldi was great. now everybody has the confirmation/proof that poldi fits into the bayern team and system, so he really doesnt have an excuse not to start him.

Guys....watch what you say about Santa Cruz....Duncan could be lurking in the bushes...:D

In all fairness, I want him to do good and the CL is a new competition altogether so I wouldn't mind if he gets a chance to be able to prove himself.

The thing that drives me crazy about the Podolski situation is that Magath and Co. keeps teasing us that he is going to start, every week. 'Oh, Poldi is getting better.', 'He's really in form now.' and 'He'll probably start tonight.' and then he never does. If Magath wants to use him as a sub, to ignite the game or whatever, that's fine but I wish he'd just say that.

And why does he never play with Makaay, as someone mentioned above? Aren't they going to our starters eventually? It just makes sense that you'd want them to have some striking experience together, but maybe that's just me..

If Roque starts, again, I will go insane. It's cool if Magath wants Poldi as his super sub or whatever (although, I wish he wouldn't) but couldn't Pizzaro get a chance then? Santa Cruz has scored zero goals this season, so why can't someone else get a chance to start, even? It frustrates me to no end.

Anyways, I'll stop ranting. Here's hoping we win this. :)

You know It took some time for me to figure out why SC keeps making the starts and why Magath seems to be so amored with him lately...

It just seems logical.....Roque must whore his beautiful woman out to him every once in a while in the AA locker room while they're out training...

Think about it......he is on Roque's good side for a while now and it would explain him not knowing what the hells going on with the team tactically, being that he misses their training sessions because of this.

Oh,come on guys, what kind of a post is this?!.Does it contribute to the discussion?I should say not!!!
Give Roque a break. He hasnt scored in 4 matches, big deal.We are still September, for the love of God!!Maybe, just maybe he will be able to find his last year form, the one he had prior to the knee injury.I think its a good idea,to try the Roque-Lukas partnership upfront.Makaay was terrible with Pauli, while Roque hit the crossbar.
