I put $10 down on a Middlesbrough and Charlton two-play. Obviously unlikely, but it returns $1,225.

I might make a serious pick after I finished my NFL Week 1 picks.

kind of new to the whole futbol betting thing and just reading up and making sure i understand everything right

wondering if you can answer some quick ?s i have. ive just read the sticky post about betting but im still slightly confused as to how the #s you posted differ from the one i post below (also, where did you get your #s from?)

all the lines you posted, how do they differ from the typical lines im seeing on for instance mansion's sportsbook (specifically the +/- spread handicaps im seeing). take the middlesborough game:

Middlesbrough Draw Arsenal

Three Way
+695 +290 -360
Asian Handicap
+1.5 -115 -1.5 -108
Total
ov 2.5, 3 +101 un 2.5, 3 -125

alright the top three way i get that, win for mid, tie, or win for arse.
asian handicap i also get, win for mid or they can lose by 2 (thats what the +1.5 means right?) and then arsenal has to win by 2 for you to win if you bet on them. then the last is just over under i got all that. however, what do the 3 digit numbers mean on the 3way? for instance say you pick mid to win outright and +695 whats that mean?

so then what do your numbers mean? again using the arse/mid game for example. is it 1.3 for arse win 4.3 for draw and 9.5 for mid win or how do i interpret that table versus the ones ive been looking at usually?

thanks for any help ya can give sorry for the questions. i believe the bet where 'boro can lose by 2 or win the game bet is a good one (assuming i interpreted it all right, draw in asian handicap is a push i guess?) and i believe man united will prevail over tottenham but it will be close 1-0 or 2-1.

Let's look at your example:

Middlesbrough win (7.95 or +695)
draw (3.90 or +290)
Arsenal win (1.28 or -360)

If I bet $1 on a Middlesbrough win, I get $7.95 back including my original dollar. This is the same as netting a $695 return on a $100 bet.

If I bet $1 on a draw, I get $3.90 back including my original dollar. This is the same as netting a $290 return on a $100 bet.

If I bet $1 on an Arsenal win, I get $1.28 back including my original dollar. This is the same as netting a $100 return on a $360 bet. (Notice the change in the +/- sign on the American odds.)

Bet365, Mansion, and other online bookmakers allow you to switch between the most common odds formats. Most Big Soccer wagering posters prefer the decimal format (1.50) over the American format (-200).

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

ok i got it now thank you very much for taking the time to go over that. I was just confused on the fact that i was looking at different formats for listing the odds on different sites.

last question then.. so the asian handicap bets are like traditional handicap bets that you would see on say american football, correct? so 'boro +1.5 means theyre "given" 1.5 goals. so they can lose by 1 or win the game to win the bet correct? and if they lose by 2 then the arsenal bet would win, since arsenal is -1.5 which means they have to win by 2 goals to win the bet? i would assume this is just like any other normal "handicap" bet ive seen for other sports on american wagering sites... just wanted to make sure it wasnt different.... the way it said asian handicap as opposed to just handicap was making me wonder if it was something different.

IF that is all true and that is the case, i think that is a very compelling bet assuming 'boro can lose by 1 or win. draw is a push then. the way arsenal have been playing lately is a huge plus for this particular bet.

edit: oh, and also, where are you drawing the numbers in your post from/where do you wager if you do not mind me asking... their lines seem to be slightly more favorable to the teams i would bet on this week

You're correct. Asian handicap is just a form of spread betting that you commonly find in American football. The advantage is that it takes draws out of the equation. More info can be found here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_handicap).

I do my sports wagering at Bet365.com (http://www.bet365.com/). That's where most of my lines come from. Most online books are either geared toward professional gamblers or casual gamblers. Books for pros offer higher bet limits but poor bonuses. Books for casual gamers offer good bonuses but lower bet limits. Bet365 is considered the best site for hobby players. Many pros prefer a site like Pinnacle. I just do it for fun. No big money.
