Just thought rather than making a new thread every time something comes up, it would be a good idea to have a "newsreel" so to speak. I'll get ya started:

"We have to help each other in this situation and we have to grow up very quickly," Davids told The Times.

"It is not a disaster because we have only played three matches, but we do need to start putting on more of a show.

"Last year was difficult, but it has been even harder this season because opponents see us as a big scalp for them and they know all about our strengths."

Just wondering what your thoughts are. I think he's got it right, but perhaps going to the papers and moaning is not the way to go?

A newsreel sounds fine. But we don't get the same amount of traffic as some of the other boards, so I don't think we'll have a terrible clutter of threads.

I'm pretty much fine with everything Davids said. If you look at all of what he said, instead of a snipet here and there, it makes a lot of sense. We do have to pull together, we do have youngsters that will need to step up, etc.

IMHO, this season the Premiership is stronger than last. Certainly Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and Newcastle have improved personnel, so the fight for Europe will be even more intense this year. On the other side of the table, only Portsmouth look to be significantly weaker than last season.

Davids is correct, 2 games is too early to panic, but we do need to improve our form. I am in favor of someone being a vocal leader out there, and honestly, if Davids isn't it, I don't know who in our team is? King is the silent lead-by-example type, Jenas is too inconsistent himself to pull it off. Keane, while outspoken, isn't exactly the team spokesman. Berbatov, Zakora, Ekotto, Chimbonda, Malbranque, etc. are all new. Lennon and Dawson are too young. Honestly, when Davids leaves I only see Dawson or Berbatov as players who could even possibly take that mantle.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Doesn't bother me, I reply to most things anyway ;)

Better start putting things right against Man Utd. Got a toughie after that, Slavia away won't be easy. Season starts now, I guess. No more signings until January so the team needs to settle and start scoring more and conceding less.

Jermain Defoe hopes his performance against Andorra will make him first-choice for Spurs:

"It's frustrating, but it's the manager who picks the team. I played against Bolton, but that was a disappointing game. Hopefully, I can go back and get in the team now.

"It has been difficult, especially last season when there were times when I thought I would have to speak to the manager, but I suppose I've just got to let my football do the talking.

"Every time I train and every time I play, I've just got to prove that I should be in the team"

...he got a knock after the Bolton game so lost his place to Keano for Sheff United, where Spurs actually showed up and so sat on the bench for the everton debacle. I actually think he will start against ManYoo. Isn't Keane out?

The fact Keane is better than Defoe also is a reason he is not playing.

Give Defoe a chance in the next match and I'm pretty sure he'll play a great match!!!
