View Full Version : the long term view/philosophy (my giant whiney rant)

I have no idea where I'm going with this, but there are a lot of people here, incl some local press people, we know brad stalks us occassionally, I've heard rummors of some revs guys on here. There are tons of knowledgeable people on here as well as some kooks like myself....
what is the long term view/philosophy of this team?
I just don't get it anymore.
My instinct says they want to field the most competative team they can every year and win,
but:
they have made essentually no roster moves to improve.
they are cheap as ********
they don't use allcoations ever
they ignore the usoc (and basically admit it's not a priority)
they totally blew off the CCC (incl not taking advantage of a home field)
they have the crappiest pre-season training in the world (no really competative games)
yet they, hoard players (or at least the league does) who have offers to leave and could bring in money and allocations. they refuse to renegotiate TT's contract even though they have the cash.
I just don't get it.
They have been struggling and it feels like they are doing nothing to improve or work through these changes. which tells me the opposite of the instict to try and win
10 years and no silverware and a chance at 4 this year here we are with no shot at 3 already.
the pats have a much more cohesive and prominent philosophy. it's the same owners, what is it with the revs?
the advertisement and promotion of this team has dwindled to nearly nothing.
attedence is down.
seriously wtf?
Can some one please explain.
I know it's not just me bacause I hear these same sediments spuratically in posts here

But we'll be offloading a lot of stars in the offseason and then we'll have more cap room we can do nothing with, next season looks good:rolleyes:

yeah, I love this team, but I am seriously losing my marbles over these guys right now.
Honest to god, if bob kraft signed in right now and just said "it's a tax write off, I don't give a shit" I would be satisfied. At least I would have the comfort of know something. Or if I could get a sense that, we're making 1 last push with this roster, trying to hold it together and then were going to clean house start young and go (Ie; we're in a transition). even a "we're trying but we're idiots" would make me feel better.
I say we storm the castle and do a hostile take over. Hang craig, sunil, bob, john, SN, whoever from the bell tower.

This really goes back to the offseason. The team and management knew that they could potentially lose 3-5 players to the World Cup. They knew there would be injuries over the course of the year.
Yet they brought in no one. And then they complained about lack of depth.
People here complain about the schedule we had to play. Chicago will have played 12 games from 8/12 to 9/17, 37 days. An average of a game every three days.
We can't bring in players because it would disrupt chemistry. Yeah, these guys really are very high on their team right now aren't they?
The league has a history of failed SIs. Yep, really hurting DC right now isn't it.
Why would Nicol want to bring in young kids in the draft? Yeah, really hurting Chicago (as those kids have grown up) isn't it?
And I could keep going ...

Ok, let's say we lose Shalrie, Taylor, Pat, Clint, and Avery. As much of a loss that would be, we free up a lot of cap room and have some players that could fill in those slots with the current team.
Shalrie: Larentowicz
Taylor: Simms
Noonan: Allocation or draft pick:p
Clint: Pepe
Avery: Lochead or Riley
Sure these guys won't "replace" them but if we did actually sign somebody or if we can draft well this upcoming draft, we may have a good shot at a Cup in the next two years. Aside from Pepe, all those guys are fairly young.

a start from scratch, I could totally deal with.
management saying:
"hey guys, we're going to suck this year and probably next year, but we are going to make the right moves, spend dome $, deveop player and in 3-4 years we'll really be a contendor for the next 3-4 to come"
but instead we get a giant muddled pile of shit.
management saying "we're trying, but not nearly as hard as we should and while we could do x x and x, we'll sit idely and do nothing"
 AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUNGH!!!!!!!

How many, if any, do you think we will lose to the expansion draft for toronto?

With all the good players leaving, probably one at the max. It's not like Toronto would look at us and say "Wow, what a glut of talent in New England."

The problem is in general you're at the max going to get 2 good players out of one draft. So that still wouldn't be enough.
We need to actually use our allocations and bring good players in without only using the draft to do so.

What are these "allocations" you speak of *raises brow*
I think we could/should lose Joey to Toronto, and could lose someone like Khano if we don't protect him early. Anyone have a clue when the expansion draft is?

Last expansion we didn't bother to protect Franchino because nobody wanted to take on his bloated salary to get a mediocre and aging left back. My fear is that we would lose some of the younger players, like Larentowicz or Simms.

imho, perfect example. twellman. trade him, some other team will pay him more, he may be gone in a year anyways. but for some ************ team like colorado or RSL, he could be massive. we take the money and run, buy 2 guys. or trade for the number 1 or 2 draft pick (which they may well get).
We are so high on the allcoation list right now a little more could get us the right guy (perhaps coming back from europe, like a beasley or that other US dude dropped by arsenal, etc.).
Just an example. think 2 years out, 3 years out. although if we let shalrie go, there would be the allocation there to do something special, but no, we'd rathe rhodl him lose him at the ned of the season and get nothing... DUH!!.
 :o :(

Isn't it better from a psychological standpoint to purge than bottle up these feelings?

You can't say that this season. We put our best out there.

One at the most.
Luckily, toronto's domestic players are canadian. However, they do get more international spots specifically for americans.
