It appears unlikely that DaMarcus Beasley will finish the season with the Fire. The 20-year-old midfielder became one of Major League Soccer's most-sought-after players with his performance during the World Cup, and some foreign clubs have come calling.
MLS--which owns the contracts of all its players--rejected a $1.3million offer from Middlesbrough of the English Premier League, and a deal with Ajax of the Netherlands fell through at the last minute last week. Ajax reportedly offered MLS a $2 million transfer fee and a more lucrative contract for Beasley, but the club opted for Yugoslavian midfielder Perica Ognjenovic instead.
Ognjenovic, who played three seasons for Real Madrid before joining Kaiserslautern of the German Bundesliga for two games last season, became more attractive to Ajax because no transfer fee was required. Beasley would have left the Fire this weekend had the deal gone through.
"MLS didn't pull out of it,'' Beasley said. "I'm disappointed because it's good any time you have the opportunity to play for a big club like Ajax. At the same time, I'm happy to play for the Fire.''

After the game I said something to DaMarcus like "guess you will be playing in Europe in a couple of months". He said "we'll see" in a very non-confident manner and looked a little upset about it. I answered "you will, and they wont know what hit em" hopeing he would smile. He didn't. But I tried!

I don't know if it is true but Boro manager Steve McClaren told the Guardian today that MLS has agreed to sell DMB for 1.5 million pounds. I am still waiting for more details.
