I started taking my Battery flag, scarf and/or jersey in may many travels around the world a couple years ago to some pretty unique places. I head back to Iraq in a couple days and thought I would solicit suggestions as to where people would like to see my Battery flag, or scarf.
give me some good idea and I will post the shot here
below are a couple samples

please no suggestion of me with detainees, things tend to get messy when you start taking photos with them...

thanks for the offer
the photo is from near Tikrit but I was in the Mosul area in Jan-Mar time frame, mostly with the bubbas in and around FOB Hornbeck but did spend a couple weeks with the Stryker guys out of Courage

How 'bout a quick stencil that you could slap around and photo?
Perhaps on ordinance before good use. Your flag would seem appropriate.
Do they still name planes?

good Idea. making the stencil shouldn't be too hard to do out there either. a bit of paint and presto...bob's (or bill's) your uncle.
some planes are named but usually something like Spirit of Charleston or the like, artwork on the planes unless official, seems to be frowned on

That is just too bloody cool! I'm not sure which of the above photos is my favorite.
You could get a picture of some of the local children wearing and holding the Battery stuff. It would look like Charleston has supporters in Iraq. You would just have to make sure they know that they are just getting their picture take with the gear and not getting it as a gift.

Mikey... you know I love that inflight photo, talk about a picture speaking a thousand words.
I think it would be cool to drape the flag over a tank turrett and then stand under holding your underground scarf.

Good luck, and be safe, Mikey!!!!!!!
Maybe the Battery could go on a run and win the title for you :) It would be the patriotic thing to do :)

I like the photo you had of you holding the Battery flag with the Kurd bodyguard.
Future Battery Flag photo ops in Iraq:
- In the Spiderhole
- Above Saddam's big, gaudy throne in Baghdad
- In a green zone hotspot (e.g. Thee Middle Eastern Belle)
- From any flagpole
- With your base commander
I think I'll stop now.

I think the best place for me to see you in your kit would be on American soil and out of harm's way.
Be safe and Godspeed - to all of you guys and gals.
BTW, is that an AIM-9? It's been so long they may not even be around any more. I love the F-16, but the Hog will always be my favorite.

most F-16s are single seaters, aren't they?

Do they still have "massage parlors" in war zones? MamaSan draped in the flag would give the boys a lift. No pun intended.

yep old school AIM-9, Not the latest but still have a place. I've gotten to fly in more than 30 aircraft platforms but sadly never and A-10 i think they only have a couple two seaters in the inventory. I think that would be a great ride.
Most are but the D model is a two seater

I start my journey tomorrow, so might only have limited internet capablity for a while but keep the suggestions coming. Ill do my best to get them post as soon as I accomplish them.

Mikey,
I have a kick ass picture of me hangin in one of Saddam's pools (like he didn't have 100 or so). Maybe a picture in the pool on the Aussie compound at Victory, with the Al Faw pallace in the background, with the scarf on of course.

after a week of travel and a week of gettingsettled in and meeting my numerous contacts, I reached my destination. I haven't gotten any shots yet but a couple a few other ideas.
One was writting the word "Battery" on a wall with bullets!
watch this space!

Mikey, if someone wanted to send you a package (like a DVD of the Battery winning the 2006 Championship!!), is that possible? Can you post a mailing address or PM me?
