Did anyone see Kanu's goal today (Monday night)? That was amazing. Portsmouth have really impressed these first few games.

Also, what was the guy dressed up illegally running out on the pitch for? Did he show a yellow card to the team he supports?

It is wierd how good Kanu looks now, he has been awful for 5 years now, but is looking awesome now.

Harry Redknapp is the only English manager i have any respect for. Give him a bit of cash and let him do his job without intervention and he will a) get results and b) play damn good football. Look at the England set up now, from west ham at some point there are : Rio and Anton Ferdinand, Lampard, J Cole, Carrick and Defoe.

I disagree that he has been awful for five years, but he didn't do muc at West Brom. I was always a fan of Kanu's at Arsenal. He tried to do the simple things and set a lot of goals up, but just never won the fans over apart from the Chelsea hat trick. In fact there was a huge difference in how the away fans treated him (great displays in Ukraine, Liverpool and Chelsea that we all remember) and to how the home fans treated him.

The Pompey fans are some of the best in the Premiership so hopefully after his 3 goal start for them will be given the support he deserves.

None of those players have anything to do with 'arry. They all came from 'The Academy' and are the work of the best in the business Tony Carr. Credit where credit is due please

Wont be long before 'arry takes the rest of the ruski's money with back handers and some under the table action.

I will say Pompy are looking a bit good this season

I just watched Harry's post game comments and he jokingly said it was all Tony Adams.

He is a great manager. With limited funds last year he rebuilt a team in half a season and made a great escape.

it's a bit of an acid test for Arry this year. He is a good manager with limited resources, but now he has money to spend, will he be able to take the club up a level? only time will tell on that one.

We are looking good this seson and Arry's attaking style coupled with Tony Adams defensive coaching is working out a treat. The fact that we are the only team yet to concede is amazing and is full credit to the partnership that Sol Campbell and Linvoy Primus have formed.

trouble is, we are second at the moment so the only way is down:eek:

I would agree with Fratton Fred, Redknapp needs to keep Pompey in the top half into the second half of the season before we can say he's a "great" manager.

As for Kanu, while he's always had bundles of skill, his goal output was never enough at Arsenal and I personally have seen him miss some absolute shockers. I'll always remember him well as he never gave less than his all, but at the time he was never going to dislodge Bergkamp and Henry from the team. Hopefully he can keep up his good start at Portsmouth.

Not to take anything away from Portsmouth because it was a pretty impressive display, but part of me wonders if Boro's Chelsea victory was a fluke and Garreth Southgate is in over his head.

Ofcourse Boro's victory was a fluke, but to be fair, Chelsea got cocky and stopped playing and Boro took advantage.

Well they looked good last night, but how long will Kanu and Sol hold up? Is the depth there in the squad? We shall see. I think Pompey will finish mid-table after threatening the UEFA Cup spots.

you're probably right, but the important thing is that we win when we have a full strength squad which we are doing.

Arry is trying to add depth but it is proving difficult, however, we had Lua Lua, Johnson and Mendes out last night and still looked good.

Bit unfair to say Kanu has been awful for the last 5 years. He was playing in sh!t side at the Albion and even then you could see that he was a class apart from the rest of the players. He would get the ball and slide in clever passes only for his team mates not to read them or mess them up.

He had the biggest miss of the decade so far anywhere in the world. Add to that he only arrived at Albion in 04 ( i think). He rarely played at the arse, but when he scored a few goals, and he scored a few at Albion, but he really hasn't ever been one of the prems leading lights since the 99-00 season, so to be fair he varies between awful and excellent. If he can find the consistency of his Ajax and early Arsenal days then i would really be impressed.

Portsmouth have just signed Andy Cole too... at 34 not sure what difference it will make... also trying to sign Hajduk Split defender Niko Kranjcar.
