After yesterday's game, I think it's safe to say that we need a calming influence like Tugay to slow the game down and spray some good passes around. We just never really had hold of the ball enough for my liking.
Ooijer was god awful, but after letting my logic sort things out over the course of 24 hours, I've decided that he shouldn't be written off on just yet. Coming into a league such as the Premiership and immediately being thrown into the lineup against none other than Chelsea is one hell of a task, especially as a defender.
Roberts and McCarthy are going to be a work in progress. McCarthy put the one shot on goal, and Roberts was mostly invisible. The pedigree is there, it's just a matter of when the partnership takes hold.
Once we get Nelsen back from injury, things should settle down nicely in the back, regardless of who partners him in defense.

Having watched a bit of European soccer last spring in the US and then the WC games, I'd say Ooijer is a pretty decent defender - Not the best - And not necessarily when isolated or left unsupported - Does Blackburn usually play 4 in the back or just 3? - Also, you've lost some of your offensive spark from last season - Any new significant signings up front?

Yeah, Ooijer has the pedigree, but the Premiership is a different creature than he's used to. He may prove to be fine after a few games.
We play 4-4-2 more times than not.
Regarding the situation up front, our strike partnership is totally new. I think McCarthy and Roberts will end up being potent enough, but of course they're having to get used to playing with each out.

This is awful. I have only been able to see one game this year thanks to a horrible early lineup from FSC.
We looked terrible. I am in FULL panic mode. There was no flow to the game, there was no communication between the midfielders, the defenders, or the forwards (I give the fowards a small pass, seeing as though both are new to the Blackburn system), and we could have taken three points from freaking Chelsea IF we played a half-way decent game. I have high hope for our boys accross the pond this year, especially after last year. Please, someone give me some reason to keep that hope.

It's way too early in the season to panic. Keep in mind that we got off to a slow start last season. That season turned out ok. ;)
We're pretty deep up front now with the addition of Nonda. Dare I say, we're probably better in that department than we were last year, even with Bellamy. Don't forget that Nelsen is due back as well. He'll be a settling force in the back. We'll be fine.

OK, I feel better with the addition of Nonda, but there is still the idea of chemistry. Don't worry; I remember Nelson is coming back. He's the whole reason I started being a fan of Blackburn. I am a D.C. United fan at heart, and after his championship run with us in 2004, I was sick to see him go. So I kept up with his new team. He is going to shore up our back line, but I don't seem him helping out our midfield.
I there is one thing that I have learned about this great game, it is that chemistry is unbeleivably powerful. You can't account for it when you are looking for players in the transfer market, but it can make or break your team. Right now, we don't have any. It's like they didn't play any friendlies leading up to the season. BTW, who did they play for the friendlies, and how did they turn out?

We did get off to a slow start, but it was nothing like this. The good thing is that we have Sheffield United this weekend, but I hate play the new teams early in the season. There's something about a new energy, wanting to prove themselves, and...chemistry.
I would just like to see a good game out of our boys, and then see that comradre go through the rest of the year. They were so good last year because they played well together. Let's hope that they can bring that back.

keep in mind that we have played money bags pompy on their home pitch and chelsea and everton at home 3 really hard games to start the season off.no need to panic and the only time i will panic is if we are in the botom 3 with 5 games to go.

It's been a tough start, that cannot be denied, but it's not time to throw in the towel. Last year we started out slowly but we DID get that great game with the two cracking goals against Fulham. This year all we've gotten have been two good performances (vs Everton, vs Chelsea) but only have 2 points to show for it. If we win against Man City on Sunday we'll have as many points in as many games as last year.
Steady on SMUPlayer, if Rovers have taught us anything it's to be patient. we had a 100% turnover at striker and the defense is a revolving door what with Nelsen out, so growing pains are inevitable, but we should be fine.
Biggest concerns are Nelsen's absence which will be at least until Christmas, Gamst picking up from where he left off last year and how long will it take for Benni and Nonda/Jeffers/Roberts to click. All things that can be sorted and I'm still confident that we'll finish top 7.

Don't worry. There is no throwing in the towel. But if we don't shape up soon, there will be no top 7.

Why hasn't Roberts even been on the bench? Is he hurt? If so, when is he due back?

Groin injury. I'm not sure when he is due back.
