seriously people grow up.. dont think the dutch kid is talking shit it was jsut taht guy PaulNl....the other kid was sayin PSV wanted Rodagella... like everyone needs to like chill..

As for Guarin he is very good and needs time to develop he is only 21 he has alot of time to become a great player. At boca he really wasnt given enough chances.. he has GAGO who starts in real madrid and argentina to fight for a spot with ... how much was he worth again over 30 million euro??? haha so give the kid a break.. I love to see him on the Nt again but its def pintos calls not ours to make but hope its soon because like him 100x better than Fabian Vargas or Viafara

Have you been watching?

That IS a potential superstar, too bad he has a weight problem and lacks a proffesional attitude both on and off the field

I hope by the way that some Colombians can make the next step, because as things are now it's not whortwhile to scout in Colombia :(

You maybe right, but personally im not that worried, Out of Brazil from Mexico to Argentina, I don't see a team much stronger, and if we talk about players doing really well I'd say maybe Messi, (not enough for any team), that's about it, I don't see too many stars, Brazil could beat any team in south America with it's second squad so what you are saying I agree but it's the same for all, that's why this is gonna be really good to watch...

For years the under 20-17 squad, etc have great players with great expectations but it never translate into great seniorplayers.

Too bad, as things are now it's not really worthwhile to scout in Colombia

Fabian Vargas? I think you're thinking of someone else. Fabian is a hard working guy on the field with great leadership. He just never had the physical ability (lacks the extra bit of pace) to make the leap. He'd pretty much lost his hopes of starting at Boca before moving to Inter, where injury has prevented him from more minutes.

This is an ironic comment since the past couple of years have seen a rise in the amount of direct transfers happening between Colombia and Europe with player. It seems the market remains, thankfully, quite interested in Colombian talent.

It would be great if the kids we've landed abroad started playing to potential, but that will come.

Offcourse the market is interested, Colombia have some great players at the youth level, but this does not translate into great senior players.

You scout on youth tournaments but you don't buy. Buying you do after they have played some games against men.

Most Colombians failed in Europe, that's why teams shy away from Colombian players

The guy all the skill attributes to be a great player just very injury-prone and he has a weigth-problem

since when does Fabian Vargas have a weight problem? and how could he possibly be a better prospect than a kid like Freddy Guarin, who is not only younger, but taller and plays in a position which will give him an opportunity to excel. Fabian Vargas plays in a spot where you have to be twice his size in order to make it in the top European leagues.
And how old is Fabian Vargas now? like 27? older maybe?

Almost 27.

The fact that he had a weight problem is probally the reason he never moved to Europe. Everybody with some kind of inside in the soccer world is aware of it.

He was highly rated when he moved to Boca(big transfer by the way for an Colombian) but he trew away his chances with Boca and now he is on his last chance with Inter.

I have writen him off but I can still see a small team like Livorno, Celta, Gimnastic or Atlanta picking him up cheap.

It's a huge risk but he still has enormos potiental

Guarin will never be in the same skill level as Vargas. Different worlds

I agree with Paul:eek:

Vargas for America was a midfield genius (although Guarin clearly now has more of a chance of making it big), shutting down the opposition and distributing the ball very well. His downside was always his speed, before going to Boca he was returned to us from Perugia because of this. But he was good in Boca, until they decided to play him as a '10':(
